#culturetrip The old

#culturetrip The oldest Burmese temple built by Burmese people, the most complete in Thailand. It has been used as a scene in many Burmese dramas, such as Rak Nakara (version with Noon Woranuch), Yatika, and Plerng Phra Nang (version with Meow Chamaiporn). The place is constantly being renovated. The latest renovation was in 2017 by the Fine Arts Department. The carvings are delicate and graceful. The temple was once burnt down, leaving only the stairs up, and was rebuilt in the original style. It is a pity that the original lawn in front of the chapel and the pagoda has been converted to brick to accommodate cars instead. If there are many tourists on a day, you will not be able to take wide-angle photos. If anyone has the opportunity to visit Lampang, please come and see the beauty of Burmese art at Wat Si Chum. #culturetrip

Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao Suchadaram

#culturetrip This temple is called Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao. Legend has it that Nang Suchada found an emerald in a watermelon (Mak Tao) and brought it to offer to the monk. The monk then hired a craftsman to carve the emerald into a Buddha image, which was Phra Kaew Don Tao, which was later invited to be enshrined at Wat Phra That Lampang Luang. The reason is that according to the legend, someone went to tell the governor of Lampang at that time that the monk and Nang Suchada were having an affair. The governor of Lampang therefore ordered Nang Suchada to be arrested and executed. When the monk heard the news, he took the Buddha image and fled. He took it to Wat Phra That Lampang Luang until today. As for the location of Nang Suchada's house, there were people who believed in her good deeds and donated money to build a temple called Wat Suchadaram. However, some assumptions say that it is because Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao and Wat Suchadaram are deserted. Others assume that it is because this area is a Mak Tao orchard and is on high ground, so the chedi was named Phra Borommathat Don Tao and the temple is Wat Phra That Don Tao and later when Phra Kaew Don Tao was enshrined, the name was changed to Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao. Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao is home to Phra Borommathat Don Tao, a large pagoda containing the hair of the Buddha, a beautiful Burmese-style pavilion, a large Buddha statue, and a chapel enshrining a reclining Buddha, which is as old as the temple itself. There is also the Royal Wihan of the Lanna National Museum and the Wihan of Phra Chao Thong Thip. #culturetrip
