Nittai Temple, Nagoya, Thai-Japanese temple #Nagoya

🛕Nittai-ji Temple was built in 1904 to enshrine the relics of the Buddha, which were given as a gift by Thailand in 1900. "Kakuo" is another name for Buddha, and "Nittai" means "Japan and Thailand". The temple is more than 330,000 square meters in size. The golden and bronze Buddha statues, which were given as a gift by the Thai government, are enshrined in the center of the main hall inside, along with the relics of the Buddha. The 30-meter-high five-story pagoda is a relatively new building, which was built in April 1997. There is a monument of King Chulalongkorn of Siam beside the main hall. This is the only temple in Japan that is not affiliated with any specific sect. There are monks or sects who take turns taking care of it. There are no monks living at the temple. During festivals or important events, many people, both Thais and Japanese, come to worship the Buddha statue.
