MEDI Cafe Strawberry Chocolate Afternoon Tea

The afternoon tea takes place at MEDI, a wedding hall restaurant located within the large shopping mall Global Gate near Nagoya Sasashima Live Station. This establishment is part of the same group as Tower Hotel Nagoya Lily, which I visited previously. Global Gate is connected internally to Prince Hotel, where I also participated in afternoon tea and accommodation. It is diagonally across from Strings Hotel, another venue for afternoon tea and accommodation, just a minute's walk away. Additionally, Jump Nagoya, a popular venue for performances in Nagoya, is just across the pedestrian crossing. The area also features Market Square Sasashima, which houses 109 Cinemas, and Aichi University Nagoya Campus, making it a new landmark in Nagoya. However, due to inconvenient transportation, it primarily caters to locals rather than tourists compared to Sakae or Nagoya Station. Since this is a wedding hall afternoon tea, it is only available on weekdays (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) from 2 PM to 3 PM, and it is closed on weekends and holidays. The price is significantly cheaper compared to hotel afternoon teas, costing 3,350 yen. Adding a self-service drink bar option brings the price to 3,900 yen. Optional upgrades include sparkling wine for 4,500 yen or an additional 20 types of mini pastries for 4,900 yen. I opted for the sparkling wine package. The menu includes four types of savory items, eight types of sweets, and French toast as part of the meal. If you follow their official Instagram account, you can get free toppings of soft ice cream and strawberries on the French toast. The drink bar offers Tavalon tea in tea bag form, but there are no teapots, and it is self-service. Coffee and juice options are also available. The savory items were quite good, but the strawberry and chocolate-themed sweets were average. The French toast lacked something, making me miss the quality of Okura. Since it is self-service, there is no additional care provided after the tray is served. While the quality did not meet the high expectations set by previous wedding hall afternoon teas I’ve attended, this place is not bad and offers great value for money. The self-service drink bar gives it a casual family restaurant or breakfast vibe. Thank you.
