Southeast University's Sipailou Campus, after enduring 120 years of trials and tribulations, still shines with renewed vitality

The campus is bordered by Zhongshan to the east, the Bell and Drum Towers to the west, and Xuanwu Lake to the north. It was once the site of palaces from the Six Dynasties and also the location of the Imperial College during the Ming Dynasty. The university's auditorium, located in the Sipailou Campus of Southeast University, is a landmark building of the school. The auditorium was originally built in the 1930s, and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, a design with two wings was added to each side. The overall architecture is of Western classical style and was the largest auditorium in China at the time. The grand design features a European Renaissance facade, with three entrances on the ground floor, four Ionic columns on the second and third floors, and a decorative frieze above the cornice. Its 34-meter octagonal dome was a marvel of Chinese architecture in 1931, and it has made surprise appearances in films and TV dramas such as 'In the Name of the People', 'The Founding of a Republic', 'So Young', and 'Soul Mate'.
