Exploring Niushoushan: Nature, History, and the Stunning Usnisa Palace!

Recently, I visited Niushoushan Scenic Area in Nanjing, a place that caught my curiosity with its blend of natural beauty and rich history. From the breathtaking Usnisa Palace to scenic pathways and a peaceful atmosphere, the experience was refreshing and enlightening. Here’s a look at how my day unfolded. I arrived at Niushoushan around 9:30 a.m. and took a quick bus ride up the mountain for just 10 RMB—a small price for an amazing view. From there, I took an elevator up and headed straight to the highlight of the site: the magnificent Usnisa Palace (1). The palace is absolutely stunning, with a design that fuses modern architecture and traditional Buddhist art. Shaped like a lotus flower—a symbol of purity in Buddhism—it felt as though the structure was rising naturally from the mountain itself. Inside, I found the Sleeping Buddha in the heart of the palace (2), surrounded by intricate carvings and murals. At one point, the Buddha statue vanished, replaced by a stage for a mesmerizing dance performance. It was a unique and surprising experience that added a magical touch. Afterward, I joined the crowd heading to the underground Ten Thousand-Buddha Corridor—a corridor lined with thousands of Buddha statues, each one unique and awe-inspiring (3). After exiting the underground palace, I found myself in an area with several restaurants and souvenir shops—a perfect place to rest and grab a bite if you need it. Just beyond, I reached the towering Foding Pagoda, a 9-story structure that stands as a beacon of devotion and artistry (4). Climbing to the ninth floor was definitely worth it, as I was rewarded with a stunning Buddha statue and panoramic views of Niushoushan and the surrounding cityscape (5,6). Each floor offered something special, from Buddhist art to fascinating historical displays, making the climb an experience in itself. After a few hours of exploring, I was content and ready to head home. I spent about three hours at Niushoushan, but the experience can easily take more or less time, depending on how deep you want to dive into each part of the scenic area. Niushoushan is a true gem, blending cultural history with natural beauty and a calm, introspective atmosphere. Whether you’re a fan of Buddhist art, scenic mountain views, or just looking for a peaceful escape, Niushoushan is well worth the visit! 🕰️Business Hours: 8:30- 17:30 📍Address: No. 18 Ningdan Avenue, Jiangning District, Nanjing 💰Average Price per Person: 145 RMB 💞Reasons to Recommend: it’s an architectural masterpiece #100waysoftravel #localguides #historicallandmarks #solotravel #
