Nanjing University North Building

The North Building is a landmark of Nanjing University. Built in 1917, it was designed by American architect A.G. Small. The building is a brick and wood structure with two floors above ground and one floor below ground, with a total area of 3,473 square meters. It was built during a time of intense conflict and fusion between Chinese and Western civilizations. Interestingly, in 2025, people began to communicate warmly and friendly on a certain platform again. The teacher is really great. Back to the North Building, its architectural style reflects the influence of Western architecture on China in modern times, while retaining the traditional Chinese architectural features. A five-story square tower is built in the middle of the building, dividing the entire building into symmetrical east and west halves. The top of the tower is a cross-shaped ridge, which is actually a variant of a Western-style bell tower. The building materials used in the North Building are older than the building itself, with the main body built of bricks from the Ming Dynasty city wall, which are over 600 years old.
