Ancient Weapon Manufacturing Site!

Location: Outside Zhonghua Gate, Qinhuai District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province Introduction: In the 14th year of the Hongwu reign, Bandata passed away in Jinling, and Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty ordered the construction of Xitian Temple at the site of Bandata's passing. During the Yongle era, the rise of Dabao'en Temple led to the decline of Xitian Temple. In October 1865, during the Self-Strengthening Movement, Li Hongzhang established the Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau on the ruins of Xitian Temple, which was completed in August of the following year. In June 1929, it was renamed Jinling Arsenal, with its emblem featuring a Buddhist swastika symbol. In July 1937, Jinling Arsenal was relocated to Chongqing, and the original site was occupied by the invading Japanese army until Japan's surrender. In September 1946, it was renamed the 60th Arsenal, during which attempts were made to replicate the American M1 Garand rifle. By the end of 1948, it was moved to Kaohsiung, leaving behind factory buildings and old equipment.
