Anhui’s Bamboo Sea

Just a stone's throw away from the infamous Hongcun Village, the Mukeng Bamboo Forest makes for a great escape into nature when your needing a little bit of a break from the concrete! I was village hopping all through Anhui, visiting villages like Lucun and Hongcun and more, and decided one afternoon that I needed a bit of greenery in my life. As the name suggests, what you'll find here is a thick forest of bamboo, with a whole mountain covered in tall, lush trees. It's beautiful and tranquil, even on a grey and drizzly day like I experienced. If anything, it added more character to the overall ambiance of the area. And especially after rain, you'll see clouds of mist just enveloping the forest. The walking route here is pretty circular, so you don't have to worry about getting lost. Start your tour at the "Western Sea", then head south toward the "Southern Sea". Ticket Price: Around 30 RMB. But if you want to cross the glass bridge, you'll have to pay a bit extra.
