Visitors can even try their hand at simple sharpening techniques on-site—super fun! Next, I strolled through Sakai Old Town, lined with well-preserved Edo-period buildings. Hidden among the alleys are old-style coffee shops and traditional Japanese confectionery stores, making it feel like stepping back in time. In the afternoon, I headed to Sakai Seaside Park. This park not only offers vast grassy areas perfect for picnics but also provides a stunning view of Kansai Airport in the distance. For history enthusiasts, the Sakai City Museum is a must-visit to delve deeper into the city's past and present. As evening approached, I returned to the city center to savor the local specialty, Sakai Unagi Rice. The eel is crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired with a sweet sauce that leaves a lasting impression! While Sakai City may not be as bustling as Osaka, its tranquility allows visitors to experience the purest essence of Kansai culture.
