The observation of Ulugh beg

#celebrateit Urg Bek was born as the grandson of Timur, a Uzbekistanian astronomer, mathematician, and literati. The astronomical remains of a huge hextron with an arc radius of 36 metres, excavated in Samarkand in 1908, turned out to be an observatory built by Urgbek in the 1420s and came to be called the Urgbek Observatory. Urg Bek led astronomers to conduct precise astronomical observations and created a "Urg Bek Star Table" that included an astronomical table and about 1,000 stars. This is said to be the most important star table in the Middle Ages since the Ptolemy star table. The first solar calendar was calculated at this Urgbek Observatory. Urg Bek estimated that a year is 365 days, 6 hours, 10 minutes and 8 seconds. This number roughly coincides with the current solar calendar and formed the basis of the calendar we use.
