Unlike other ancient towns in the Jiangnan region, Anchang not only offers beautiful scenery and delicious food, but also preserves more of the local customs and traditions. It's not overly commercialized; instead, it exudes the traditional marketplace vibe of the local residents, bustling and lively, creating a world of its own. 🌿Anchang Ancient Town 🌿Keqiao District, Shaoxing City📍 🌿Admission: Free 🌿Parking available (5r/hour) ☀️It's about a one-hour drive from Hangzhou to Anchang Ancient Town, and there's parking available. ☀️There's a lot to eat in the town, with various pastries, yellow wine milk tea, yellow wine popsicles, wontons, ice jelly, glutinous rice with egg yolk, and many other snacks that are unnameable but not expensive. With just a few dozen yuan, you can try many different kinds, which is a feast for the eyes for visitors, especially for us northerners, satisfying our curiosity in terms of food. ☀️The town doesn't charge an admission fee, but some attractions within the town are not free, with tickets ranging from 5-20r. You can buy a combined ticket for 40r. ☀️The entire snack street is built along the river, and you can enjoy the outside view while eating in the restaurants. ☀️I like the rice wine sweet dumplings from the Jiangnan region; each place is a bit different, and each shop has its own specialty. Eating in a small shop, you can order a bowl and enjoy the warmth. ☀️If you want to take some souvenirs, you can choose some smoked sauce products from the vendors, such as smoked fish, sausages, cured meat, etc., which taste different from other places. ☀️March might be a bit cold, but the people in the Jiangnan water towns seem to be naturally resistant to cold, and sometimes you can see them washing clothes by hand in the river. ☀️Along the river, there are some small shops where you can sit around a stove and try some tea, which is great for small groups. ☀️The scenery is quite understated, all unadorned and simple. I was so happy to see a pomelo tree next to someone's house; I've never seen such large fruit growing on a tree in the northeast, haha! It was my first time seeing it, so I couldn't help but get excited! ☀️The black-awning boats cost 40r per boat, which can seat 3 people. It's very pleasant to take a boat ride while looking at the scenery on the riverbanks. ☀️The overall impression Anchang gives is that it's 'down-to-earth,' seemingly always preserving the local way of life. Here, you can feel the genuine local customs and taste the homely local cuisine.
