After visiting the national historic site, the Tainan Sacrificial Mazu Temple, don't miss the adjacent Taiwan Sacrificial Martial Temple. It is the only martial temple in Taiwan that has been elevated to the status of a court sacrificial temple. The main deity worshipped here is the Martial God of Wealth, Guan Sheng Dijun. Inside the hall stands a towering Green Dragon Crescent Blade, gleaming with a silver sheen and exuding an extraordinary aura. The most eye-catching feature of the Martial Temple's exterior is the 66-meter-long, continuous vermilion gable wall that connects each building, forming a magnificent long wall. It can be said to be the most beautiful scenery in Tainan. The architectural beauty of the Sacrificial Martial Temple is also a major highlight: the sparrow substitutes of the Sanchuan Hall, the lion and elephant fighting seats, the plaque of the Great Man, the two dragons fighting for the pearl, and the two statues of Guan Di in the main hall. Each has its own story and special use, and without a guided tour, it is difficult to understand the mysteries within.

Visiting the ancient capital of Tainan, how can you not explore its historic sites? This time, we are visiting the bustling Central and Western District, home to the nationally designated historic site, the Tainan Grand Matsu Temple, to pay respects to Matsu. The Grand Matsu Temple was originally the Ningjing Prince's Mansion. Its grand architecture is a classic example of Eastern architectural craftsmanship and is currently the only official Matsu temple in Taiwan. The temple's most distinctive feature is the lifelike, large-sized Matsu statue, which is said to have been made by a craftsman from Quanzhou, China, over 300 years ago. It is considered one of Taiwan's representative clay sculptures. From the outside, the Grand Matsu Temple appears small, but once inside, you will find it quite deep. In addition to the main deity, Matsu, many other gods are worshipped here. There is even a ritual of crawling under the palanquin for blessings. The devout worshippers and the solemn atmosphere make it feel very spiritual. The temple itself is rich in details, showcasing the essence of traditional craftsmanship. It is well worth a visit, and having a guided tour would make the experience even more enriching, allowing you to better understand the historical background. Moreover, the area around the historic site is also a hub for delicious snacks, ensuring you can enjoy both sightseeing and food.

I've been planning to visit the Chimei Museum for a long time. Although transportation in Tainan is very inconvenient TT I overestimated my stamina and rode a U bike from the Central and Western District to the highway... (I thought the lighting effects in the museum were great, but it turned out I was already sunburned 😵💫😵💫) But as I got closer to my destination, I knew it was all worth it once I entered the park. I was lucky enough to catch a special exhibition 🥹 though it requires an additional fee, it definitely worths it!! It was really comfortable, and you could easily spend a whole day walking around. Personally, I think the whole vibe is a bit like Australia haha. Anyway, there were some unexpected incidents at the end, but luckily I met a very nice Taiwanese couple 😭 And miraculously, I encountered a truck with 'Smile Bike' written on it on the highway. The very kind driver helped me take the bike back to the factory, ending this thrilling yet safe journey. There’s still a lot of fun facts, but I'll share them later when I have the chance 🤣. The place is beautiful, perfect for a leisurely walk. But I suggest registering for Uber in advance. And they told me that convenience stores in Taiwan can call taxis!! (Just in case you need to call a taxi in Tainan, because for the Chimei Museum, it seems there are none for miles 😓) Also, if you have time, I recommend visiting the nearby Ten Drum Cultural Village. That would make it even more perfect~ but remember to pay attention to the time and transportation!! For the Ten Drum Cultural Village, it seems they have starlight tickets after sunset, which are much cheaper~ if you're interested, you can check the latest info on their official website.

The best place to see plum blossoms in the south is the Meiling Scenic Area. The plum blossoms are in full bloom right now, so I took a trip to Meiling in Nansi, Tainan before it started raining. I was lucky enough to catch the plum blossoms in full bloom. However, the plum blossoms are quite small and not as clustered as cherry blossoms. Their color is pure white and not very bright, making them difficult to photograph. Close-up shots are the best option, but the best experience is to appreciate them with your eyes! In winter, you can enjoy the plum blossoms, in spring, the fireflies, and in summer, the tung blossoms. Meiling is not just for flower viewing; there are also several hiking trails, such as the Meifeng Ancient Trail and the Meilong Trail, which are about 2 kilometers long and quite easy to walk. If you're lucky, you might even see the sea of clouds in the mountains, which is incredibly beautiful! However, the only way to get there is by driving yourself, as public transportation in Tainan, especially in the mountainous areas, is not very convenient.

Less One Espresso Cafe: Comfortable space, perfect for deep travelers looking for a cozy and unique cafe! The taste is subjective and not particularly mainstream! Iced Latte (150NTD): For me, a latte should be smooth and easy to drink, but the ratio of espresso to milk was not to my liking, with a higher espresso ratio, making the coffee taste strong/bitter, possibly only suitable for those who prefer a strong coffee flavor. Iced Matcha Latte (150NTD): The matcha aroma is relatively light, and so is the taste, possibly due to the powder used being milder, but the milk is quite fragrant and rich. 🍮Desserts: Tiramisu (160NTD): A very sincere dessert, with a light rum flavor, so those who are afraid of strong flavors can enjoy it safely. It has many layers, the fresh cream is delicious and not too greasy. The only minor drawback is that everything is soft, which is a bit of a pity in terms of texture. Pudding (130NTD): My boyfriend and I had differing opinions; he didn't like it, but I loved it. The pudding itself has a strong egg aroma, and the fresh cream on top is not too watery and has a presence. The caramel sauce is relatively light (or it doesn't stick to the pudding well?), but for me, since the pudding itself is strong, the caramel doesn't need to be too heavy, otherwise, it would be burdensome to eat, so it's just right. The dried lemon slice on top (?) is delicious, making the whole pudding very layered. 🏠Space: Very atmospheric, with many photogenic corners. The second floor has a tatami room, enhancing the relaxation feeling. It's perfect for quiet chatting, reading leisurely, and intimate moments. The restroom is very clean! ❗️Disadvantages: The stairs are a bit dark and steep, and the tatami room tables are very low, not suitable for using a computer. If you want to use a computer, the first and third floors are great. The chairs on the third floor are noisy, and the tables are uneven and can't be pressed down, or they will topple.

It was transformed into a warship museum in 2011, becoming one of the landmark attractions in Tainan City, with all the equipment from that time completely preserved. In addition to the Deyang ship, the park also has a free area displaying an M5A1 Stuart light tank, an M8 howitzer, a Zhongzheng F5E fighter jet, and an S-2T anti-submarine aircraft known as the 'Shark Machine', making it a top choice for photo ops. Recently, there is also an 'Iron Alliance Ship Witnesses Miracles' Iron Man special exhibition. Besides seeing the majestic Deyang ship, there are also over a dozen Iron Man robots, making the ticket price well worth it.

Filled with large animal specimens, this fantastical shop may be small in space, but it's truly spectacular and awe-inspiring! Unlike the usual displays, the specimens here look particularly lifelike and dynamic, even the ravens look cool! The entire space feels like a magical world! Both stores are free to enter and explore. The Minquan store has a paid area with an entrance fee of 100 TWD per person, allowing access to the back area. As soon as you enter, you'll be greeted by a giraffe looking right at you, along with various large animals. While you can't touch the specimens, you are free to rest, take photos, and film. The 100 TWD can also be used as a discount for purchases within the store, with no limit on the number of vouchers you can use for a single item. It's a very generous deal! The prices of the specimens in the store are surprisingly affordable, and the staff even provide a brief explanation of the butterfly specimens, making the experience quite enjoyable! It's a great stop to include in your travel itinerary, as the two stores are very close to each other, about a 5-minute walk apart. The vouchers can be used at both stores! While it may not have very popular or must-try famous stores, the overall experience is comfortable. After visiting the night market, you can also go to the two nearby large shopping malls, which offer a wide range of high-end and low-end products and food.

Every year during the Lunar New Year Lantern Festival, Tainan's Yanshui Town is packed with crowds coming to witness two major spectacles: the Yanshui Beehive Fireworks and the Yuejin Port Lantern Festival. One dynamic, one static, both equally spectacular. This time, we visited the Yuejin Port Lantern Festival, which combines light and water, and has won the Red Dot Design Award for its exhibition design, gaining international acclaim. At dusk, when the colorful lights are turned on, the Yuejin Port Waterfront Park becomes a dazzling and beautiful place, filled with a dreamy and romantic atmosphere. The festival innovates every year, integrating technology, art, and the environment, and features 5G digital virtual creations and guided tours, making it truly a highlight. The lights on the river are quite enchanting. However, the crowds at the Yuejin Port Lantern Festival can be overwhelming, with traffic and parking being a headache, not to mention the sea of people! So we visited early on a weekday before the event officially started, allowing us to enjoy the view comfortably.

On the 5th floor terrace of Hayashi Department Store in Tainan, there are two beautiful and interconnected Western-style dining spots: the old-fashioned retro Hayashi Cafe and the natural and pure Mata Tofu Pudding. The two restaurants share the space on the 5th floor of Hayashi Department Store, instantly transporting you back to the retro modern feel of the Showa era. This was a time when Western influences were introduced to Japan during the Meiji Restoration, blending and harmonizing with traditional Japanese styles, creating an elegant yet modern old-fashioned new trend. The main attraction is not just the coffee, but the chance to quietly enjoy the beautiful ambiance. Whether it's the red velvet sofa by the wooden lattice window, the round windows with stained glass, or the antique decorations and furniture, everything has a unique charm! The food and drink are also quite good, with the carefully selected tableware and cups perfectly matching the overall atmosphere. In fact, the fifth floor of Hayashi Department Store was originally planned as the 'Hayashi Dining Hall' for dignitaries. It is said that the success rate of arranged marriages at Hayashi Dining Hall was very high!

How can Hayashi Department Store be so beautiful! As a popular attraction in Tainan, Hayashi Department Store opened in 1932, before you and I were born. Standing five stories tall and equipped with an elevator, it must have amazed the people of Tainan at the time. Now, more than 90 years later, it still exudes charm with its elegant and modern Showa-style architecture. The round windows and wooden lattice windows are particularly tasteful and captivating, remaining timeless even today. As a department store, the first to fourth floors of Hayashi Department Store are shopping areas, different from typical shopping centers, focusing on Tainan's specialty souvenirs, woven products, and cultural and creative items. The fifth floor houses a quaint tea shop, and the sixth-floor terrace is unique with the remnants of a Shinto shrine torii. From the rooftop, you can overlook the Land Bank diagonally opposite, resembling a triangular Greek temple, stunningly beautiful. The intersection of Zhongzheng Road and Zhongyi Road is often bustling with temple parades, adding to the lively atmosphere! When traveling to Tainan, I highly recommend visiting Hayashi Department Store. Anping Tree House, a famous tourist attraction in Tainan, is a beautiful combination of nature's power and man-made structures. It was once a warehouse for the German Trading Company, featuring 19th-century architecture with granite lintels, cornerstone window frames, wooden structures, and red brick walls. Over time, it was abandoned and parasitized by banyan trees, creating the unique sight of a tree house. On sunny days, walking inside the tree house is very cool and comfortable. Sunlight filters through the gaps above, creating a beautiful landscape. You can climb the stairs to the second floor and view the roof of the tree house, which is covered by the intertwined aerial roots of the banyan trees, offering a very special view. When you're tired, you can visit the Tree House Café for a drink or go to the souvenir shop to enjoy the air conditioning and see small exhibitions. A trip to Anping is highly recommended. Besides strolling through Anping Old Street and the ancient fort, make sure to visit the tree house to enjoy the unique leisure and coolness of Anping.

Guanziling Old Street has historical traces from the Japanese occupation era. It takes about 5-10 minutes to stroll around. There are some old Japanese-style buildings and red lanterns at the bathhouses. If you haven't been here before, it's worth a visit. There's a plaza ahead where you can park, but the hotels say it's a private parking area. You can drive around nearby to find a parking spot on the street. Especially on the bustling Guohua Street, where the signs have recently been standardized, attracting even more tourists. We highly recommend visiting Tainan to experience a variety of delicious foods.

While waiting to check in at the Tainan｜Gugeng Jiao Travel, I headed to the common area on the sixth floor to rest. To my surprise, not only was the room filled with bright and comfortable lighting, but there was also an entire wall of books that caught my eye! Browsing through the shelves, I found many books that young students often consider must-reads, as well as themed content on specific topics and classic literary works from both domestic and international authors. The biggest surprise was the complete collection of Ye Shitao's works. Summer vacation family trip to a five-star hotel. We arrived at the hotel before 3:00 PM, thinking that the earlier we check in, the more we can enjoy. However, we overlooked the hotel's policy that check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM the next day. Despite this, we were able to check in early and leave our luggage. The kids were eager to play in the hotel's swimming pool. Silks Place Tainan is conveniently located next to Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, making it easy for those who want to go shopping. It's just a short walk away, which is great for avoiding the outdoor heat. The hotel staff were very considerate and called us as soon as our room was ready for early check-in. Silks Place Tainan has a very rustic charm. The high-ceilinged lobby is very comfortable and doesn't feel oppressive. The service is excellent. The rooms are spacious with large windows, making them bright and comfortable. There are simple snacks and fruits, as well as tea bags and a capsule coffee machine. The corridor has a water dispenser that offers both hot and cold water, as well as sparkling water. If you need toiletries, you can request them at the front desk. They provide Colgate toothbrushes instead of disposable ones. The bathroom has bath amenities and even face masks. The minibar is well-stocked with various drinks and bottled tea. Breakfast is unique, offering both Western and Chinese options for guests to choose from. Since the kids love Western food, we opted for the Western breakfast, while other family members chose the Chinese breakfast. We found that the Chinese breakfast also included some Western dishes and vice versa. Too hot to go anywhere? I highly recommend visiting the art museum to enjoy the air conditioning and explore the exhibitions. When you're tired, head to the café on the 5th floor for some desserts. You can easily spend an entire afternoon there. 😌 I think the Tainan Art Museum is fantastic! From July 1st, you can use the same ticket twice before the end of the year. And I just found out that one ticket grants access to both buildings.
