The only ancient railway station in downtown Taipei, Xinbeitou Railway Station

Location: No. 1, Qixing Street, Beitou District, Taipei City Introduction: In order to develop the hot spring tourism industry in Xinbeitou area, the Japanese built the Xinbeitou branch line and set up the "Xinbeitou Station" in 1916 (Taisho 5), which was later renamed "Xinbeitou Post Station". The place name "Xinbeitou" was born from this. Xinbeitou Station is the only century-old station on the Tamsui Line and even in Taipei City. It is a wooden structure with carved brackets under the eaves and the expanded station body, as well as the 3+1 combination dormer window on the roof, which is one of the architectural features of the station. However, it became history in 1988 due to the suspension of the Taiwan Railway Tamsui Line and was demolished and relocated to the Taiwan Folk Village in Changhua. In 2003, awareness of cultural heritage preservation rose, and the Taipei City Government and non-governmental groups joined hands to fight for the station to return home. After several twists and turns, Sun Royce Asset Management Co., Ltd., moved by the enthusiasm and expectations of Taipei citizens for the station to return home, agreed to allow the city government to demolish and restructure the New Beitou Station. Subsequently, the station restoration and reconstruction project was launched in 2016, and the reconstruction was completed and opened to the public in 2017. Opening hours: Closed on Mondays Tuesday to Thursday 10:00 - 18:00 Friday to Sunday 10:00 - 20:30 Tickets: Free admission Experience: Xinbeitou Station is the only preserved ancient station in Taipei, with a history dating back to the Japanese era. In addition to admiring the ancient monuments, there are also performances on holidays and cultural and creative products for sale. It is a great place to relax. New Beitou Station - During the Japanese colonial period, in order to develop the hot spring tourism industry in the New Beitou area, the New Beitou Branch Line was built. In 1916 (the 5th year of Taisho era), the "New Beitou Passenger Station" was established and later renamed as "New Beitou Station". The name "New Beitou" originated from this. New Beitou Station is the only remaining century-old station on the North-South MRT Line and even in Taipei City. Its station building is made of wood, and the carved flower brackets under the eaves and the 3+1 combination tiger windows produced during the expansion of the station building in 1937 are a major feature of the station architecture.
