A horseshoe-shaped public market!

The Xinfu Market in Wanhua opened in 1935. Besides the market, it also housed offices, administrator's quarters, bicycle parking, a garbage dump, and public restrooms. The vendors and customers at the time were a mix of Taiwanese and Japanese, and the market's merchandise and lifestyle naturally reflected a blend of Taiwanese and Japanese influences. With the passage of time and changes in lifestyle, the Xinfu Market gradually declined. Its historical value was only recognized in 2006, when it was designated a municipal historic site. Now, the Xinfu Market has reopened to the public as the "Xinfu Town Cultural Market," transforming it into a venue for culinary education. The Xinfu Market's horseshoe-shaped floor plan is rare among public markets in Taiwan, creating a smooth shopping experience. Its unique central atrium provides both ventilation and natural light within the market, making it a must-see photo spot.
