The Sumida Hokusai Museum is a place where you can experience the world of Katsushika Hokusai and ukiyo-e, such as Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. Sumida is a familiar area for Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849), an ukiyo-e artist active in the late Edo period. It is said that he spent much of his life in this area. The Sumida Hokusai Museum is built in this area. There are many exhibits that allow you to get up close and personal with Hokusai's lifestyle and replicas of his works. (Permanent Exhibition Room) Admission fee is 400 yen and up. Closed every Monday (subject to change due to holidays, etc.) Opening hours are 9:30-17:30.
