Sirmione, picturesque town on Lake Garda.
Lake Garda is a popular destination both for italian and foreign tourists. Maybe because of its gorgeous colors or maybe for its peculiar towns that host a great variety of romantic restaurants.
Sure it is a nice way to spend the weekend away from the city.
We loved getting lost in the narrow streets of Sirmione and then discovering the historical part of the town. Some people even like to swim in the lake since the water level is low but the stones don't make it that easy.
The prices of food and of any service in the town get high easily because of the great number of tourists visiting the city. You'd better spend the night in a nearby city.

Lake Misurina (Italian: Lago di Misurina; Cadorino dialect: Lago de Meśorìna) is the largest natural lake of the Cadore and it is 1,754 m above sea level, near Auronzo di Cadore (Belluno). The lake's perimeter is 2.6 km long, while the maximum depth is 5 m. Near the lake there are about ten hotels with accommodation for around 500 people.
The particular climatic characteristics of the area around the lake make particularly good air for those who have respiratory diseases. Near the lake is the only center in Italy for the care of childhood asthma.
The lake was the theme of a famous song by Claudio Baglioni. Lake Misurina is also the theme of the theatrical representation of the Longane di Lozzo.
Lake Misurina is where the speed skating events were held during the 1956 Winter Olympics of Cortina d'Ampezzo – the last time Olympic speed skating events were held on natural ice.
Misurina lies on the route of the Dolomites Gold Cup Race.

How many people have visited Sirmione on Lake Garda?
Many people consider Sirmione to be an off-the-beaten-path tourist destination, but that's not the case. Sirmione is actually one of the most popular towns on Italy's famous Lake Garda.
The castle in Sirmione is very distinctive, with its typical medieval style square tower. The castle is now open to the public as a museum, and from the top of the castle tower, you can overlook Lake Garda.
Just outside the castle is the central street of Sirmione, with its maze-like interwoven alleys. There are exquisite craft shops and cafes everywhere, and Sirmione also has several Michelin-starred restaurants, making it one of the places with the highest concentration of Michelin restaurants.
Visiting Sirmione also allows you to take a boat trip on Lake Garda, and of course, Sirmione's hot springs are also very famous. Staying here, you definitely should experience the hot springs.
The best way to get from Milan to Sirmione is by car, with scenic views along the way. Of course, you can also take a train to Desenzano station or Peschiera del Garda station, and then take another train to Sirmione.

Castle of Malcesine Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
A medieval town by Lake Garda
These past two years, the fairy-tale worlds in Europe have become increasingly scarce, huh. At the beginning of September, during my travels in Italy, I discovered a small town📍Malcesine, which still retains some of that feeling. Malcesine is located on the northeastern side of Italy's largest lake, Lake Garda.
❤Walking on the cobblestone streets of Malcesine is a pleasure in itself, as if you are in a fairy-tale world.
📝The history of this small town dates back to the Middle Ages, with the castle built by the powerful Scaligeri family of Verona, its tall towers standing on the rocks, overlooking the entire town. From the top of the castle tower, overlooking the town and the lake, time seems to stop. The old houses, narrow alleys, corner squares, orange rooftops, and the castle all exude a medieval atmosphere.
If you travel to Italy, this small town is worth visiting; it is 60 kilometers from Verona and 200 kilometers from Venice.
