National Gallery of Art, East Building

is fun! The East Building of the National Gallery of Art is located right across from the West Building. You can reach it either by crossing outside or by walking through the underground tunnel, which features a unique light installation and an indoor waterfall effect connected to the fountain above ground. Unlike the West Building, the East Building is modern in both architecture and collection. The spaces are wide, bright, and filled with contemporary and modern artworks. The paintings are often abstract, experimental, and thought-provoking rather than traditional or realistic. Even the sculptures have a playful and unusual character, making the visit feel fresh and different. If you enjoy modern art and unique architecture, the East Building will be especially exciting.
