Wat Bunyuen: Royal temple of Wiang Sa, Nan Province

Wat Bunyuen is a third-class royal temple located in Wiang Sa District, Nan Province. This temple has a long history and is the center of religion, art, and culture of the community. History and significance Wat Bunyuen was built in 1786 by Phraya Wiang Po. It was originally named Wat Bunna. Later, during the reign of Prince Atthawarapanjo, the temple was moved to its current location and its name was changed to Wat Bunyuen, after the standing Buddha image that is the principal Buddha image in the chapel. Architecture and art - The chapel is 15 meters wide and 30 meters long, made of teak wood, with intricately carved door panels. - The principal Buddha image is a standing Buddha image, 8 cubits high, built in 1800. - The pagoda in the Sri Lankan style was built in 1802, located south of the chapel.
