Dayun Temple in Wuwei, known for the "Morning Bell of Dayun" among the ancient eight scenic spots of Liangzhou

Dayun Temple in Wuwei was originally the palace of the former Liang Kingdom. In the seventh year of the Shengping era of the former Liang (363 AD), Zhang Tianxi converted it into a temple, named Hongzang Temple, which has been around for more than 1600 years. In the first year of the Zai Chu era of the Tang Dynasty (689 AD), it was renamed Dayun Temple, and during the Western Xia period, it was changed to the Imperial Huoguo Temple. After being destroyed by fire at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, it was restored to the name Dayun Temple. Dayun Temple has been repaired through the ages, but ultimately it was destroyed in the 1927 earthquake, which was a great pity; fortunately, the ancient bell tower and the big bell remained intact. The national treasure-level Western Xia Stele also originated from here. The ancient bell tower facing the street stands on a brick base over 10 meters high, surrounded by a gallery, with stairs leading up. The bell tower is a two-story double-eaved Xieshan style building, with colorful dougong brackets, tall and handsome; many couplets and plaques display the calligraphy art of various periods, adding to its majestic presence. A Tang Dynasty ancient bell, weighing about 6 tons, hangs in the bell tower. When you climb the tower and ring the bell, overlooking the cityscape, the "Morning Bell of Dayun" of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Liangzhou" refers to this bell. Behind the bell tower, the courtyard houses the Fire Temple Hall, the Spring and Autumn Pavilion, and its auxiliary halls, with a row of stone steles standing along the wall...
