Huangling: Lush and verdant, shrouded in mist and fog

Just arriving at the bottom of Huangling Valley, the view suddenly opens up. Taking the terraced field cable car, it's not long before you're standing atop the mountain. Looking far into the distance, the mountains undulate, with clusters of fog winding around them, and the sky alternates between rain, overcast, and clear. Beneath your feet are the terraced fields cultivated along the mountain, like chains and belts, high and low, scattered. A passing cloud brings rain, making them appear and disappear intermittently. Since it's not yet autumn and a weekday, Huangling is not overcrowded at this time. Walking comfortably on the stone-paved road is a rare pleasure. It's hard to imagine how crowded it will be here during the golden autumn season. Similar to the Qianhu Miao Village in Guizhou, this place is also an ancient village hanging on the cliffs and terraced fields, but with a different charm of Huizhou architecture and Han culture. Ancestral halls, stone slabs, ancient wells, whitewashed walls, black tiles, all under a misty rain, offer a unique flavor. Although it lacks the colorful bounty of the drying harvest season, the coolness and verdant green of early summer are still captivating.
