Cangpo Ancient Village in Yongjia, here lies the world's largest 'Four Treasures of the Study'

Cangpo Ancient Village is located in Yantou Town, upstream of the Nanxi River in Yongjia County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, backed by Bijia Mountain and facing the Nanxi River. In a sense, Cangpo is the most culturally rich ancient village because its design concept originates from the 'Four Treasures of the Study'. The long alley that runs through the village represents the brush; a bridge in the middle of the stone path, made of five evenly sized stones, represents the inkstick; the lotus ponds on both sides of the stone path represent the inkstone; and the cobblestone ground of the square village represents the paper. The village was founded in the second year of Xiande of the Later Zhou Dynasty during the Five Dynasties (AD 955) and has a history of over 1000 years. In the fifth year of Chunxi of the Southern Song Dynasty (1178), the national teacher Li Shiri replanned and built the village layout with the 'Four Treasures of the Study' as the main image, the meaning of which is self-evident. Today, despite thousands of years of vicissitudes, the village still retains the original planning and architectural style of the Southern Song Dynasty. The fortress walls, stone paths, residences, pavilions, ancestral temples, ancient cypresses, and pools still exhibit the charm of the past, interpreting the rich culture of farming and reading everywhere. The small ancient village also houses eight cultural halls, including the Rural Reform Exhibition Hall, Kunqu Museum, Huifengxuan Art Gallery, and Lin Ximing Painting Gallery, and has also developed a large-scale farming and reading culture park. It fully displays the ancient village culture, farming and reading culture, Kunqu culture, folk culture, ancestral hall culture of Yongjia, integrating tradition with modernity. During the Spring Festival, Cangpo Ancient Village launched the slogan 'Come to Nanxi River, celebrate the Song Dynasty New Year'. Stepping into Cangpo Ancient Village, the festive atmosphere hits you. There are photo spots designed around the themes of 'Song Dynasty charm' and 'celebrating the New Year', such as 'Welcome Home', 'The Flavor of Cangpo', and 'I Meet Fortune in Cangpo'.
