The ancient town has more than 100 residential buildings built against the mountain. Most of them were constructed during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. They have original appearance and few tourists. It is famous for Nuodeng ham. In 2013, it was listed as the seventh batch of "national protected areas". The ancient village of Nuodeng is a settlement that developed due to the salt industry. It has long made a living by boiling salt and was once an important economic center in western Yunnan. There are more than 10,000 antique cultural relics, more than 100 ancient and famous trees, ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties such as the Jade Emperor Pavilion, Confucian Temple, Martial Temple, Dragon King Temple, Lingxing Gate, and cultural relics such as the Salt Well, Salt Bureau, the former site of the Salt Tax Administration Office, and the Post Road (Salt and Horse Ancient Road). It is a display of Yungu culture and a destination of Yima culture.
