Ever pictured a perfect holiday with jaw dropping views of the alps? Welcome to Switzerland, home to one of Earth’s most beautiful landscapes and nature getaways. In Switzerland, there are mainly a few areas that captivated me during the winter season due to its stunning grandeur straight out of a fairytale. 1. Oechinensee Lake Oechinensee is a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts to enjoy a glimpse of the mirror-like lake with a backdrop of beautiful mountains. There are several hiking trails which might be harder to identify in the winter, but these trails offer gorgeous views of the lake and it is highly recommended for those who yearns for an epic adventure! 2. Zermatt Have you really been to Switzerland if you’ve never visited Zermatt? Housing one of the most prominent mountains in the world (Matterhorn), Zermatt provides views of the mountain from almost any part of the town. Other than the warm and welcoming houses, shops and cafes that Zermatt offers, the view of Matterhorn is unparalleled. If you would like to get closer to the Matterhorn, you could purchase the ticket to ride the gornegrat railway up. This railway provides the most stunning views of the mountain and it actually allows you to alight and take a closer look. It truly is a once in a lifetime experience. 3. Mürren/Wengen This is a nice ski resort for skiing enthusiasts, covered by the Swiss Travel Pass and it provides top tier skiing and ice skating facilities throughout the town. You could even ski across the town! This place is highly recommended for skiers of all skill levels, just make sure that you are ready to be WOWed!
