Dover Castle
A little over 1 hour ride from London St Pancreas to Dover Priory. Walk about 1/2 hour to Dover Castle. Opens strictly at 10am. The attendants get annoyed when you ask them if you need to be scanned even if you have a qr code ticket, so just wait near the booth until 10am to be scanned in. There is a discount if you buy tickets from the official website early (up to a day in advance) Recommend to early to avoid crowds especially on weekends. Must see the secret wartime tunnels, worth the experience of being walked through the events of Dunkirk. Lots of walking required. Took about 3-4hours to cover everything.

White Cliffs of Dover: Infinite Scenery on the Pure White Cliffs
On the southeast coast of England, the White Cliffs of Dover stand quietly by the blue sea like a painting carefully carved by nature. The white cliffs are not only famous for their stunning towering cliffs, but also symbolize the resilient spirit of England. Standing on these white limestone cliffs and looking into the distance, you will be deeply shocked by the purity and strength.
🏞️ Highlights:
• Spectacular Cliff Scenery: The White Cliffs of Dover rise between the sea and the sky, with white limestone in stark contrast to the blue sea, creating breathtaking scenery.
• Historical Relics: Walking along the cliff trails, you can find some fortresses and bunker relics from the war period. This was once an important stronghold guarding England, taking you back to the turbulent years of history.
🌤️ Recommended Experiences:
• Trail Hiking: Stroll along the trails on the top of the cliffs and enjoy the feeling of being close to nature. The white cliffs are especially dazzling in the sunlight, and the scenery is picturesque.
• Lookout to the French Coast: On a clear day, you can look out to the French coast from here, and the scenery across the strait is a marvel of nature.
If you are a lover of nature and history, these white cliffs will make you linger. Walking among them, listening to the sound of the sea breeze hitting the cliffs, you can feel the silent guardianship of this land.
Overlooking the white cliffs of Dover in France
In fact, in addition to Seven Sister Park overlooking the white cliffs, the port of Dover in southern England also has a great white cliff for photography, and when the visibility is high, you can also see France on the other side
The Strait of Dover has the famous Channel Tunnel connecting France.

The White Cliffs of Dover is a relatively unknown attraction for tourists, but for me who likes to discover unpopular attractions, I will not miss it! 👣
The scenery here is picturesque. Standing on the cliff, you can enjoy the friendly and gentle sea breeze. There is a 5-kilometer-long white cliff here, with the scenery of mountains and sea connected into one. With the open plain behind, you can fully feel the breath of nature and enjoy the physical and mental pleasure of nature. When taking photos📷, remember the location on the cliff and be careful and pay attention to safety!

Most of the pictures you have posted on here are NOT of the White Cliffs Of Dover. They are in fact, of the Seven Sisters, near Brighton, which is part of the South Downs National Park, and about 80 miles away from Dover!
Dover , Kent, UK
Dover Kent , cold weather , nice place to stay is the Dover Marina Hotel and spa especially if you are waiting for your cruise . On the town center there are lots of restaurants and groceries, church, the dover priory train station and some shopping area. You can visit too the Dover castle and white cliffs.
The Duchess of Kent
The Duchess of Kent is situated on a corner at the end of a Victorian terrace on the border between Lower Holloway and Barnsbury in Islington. The nearest Tube is Highbury & Islington, it’s a five minute walk to get here.
The pub was built in 1843 and is Grade II listed. The pub is named after H.R.H. Victoria Mary Louisa, Duchess of Kent, Queen Victoria’s mother.
This is a good size pub that is set out in an ‘L’ shape and has a modern contemporary feel. The servery is clad in solid wood panels and is illuminated by classy pendants. The front area of the pub has an eclectic mix of comfy seating and a roaring fireplace, at rear is an area set aside for dining. The walls are painted bold colours and are adorned with a collection of pop art prints. Around the front of the pub are several benches and parasols for the warmer months.
This Young’s pub serves up a decent selection of beers which included two cask ales. I decided on a pint of Pravha, my pint was excellent, price point was average. There is a classic pub grub menu available with Roasts available on a Sunday, Fish & Chips costs £18.
We arrived just after 11am on a Saturday morning in December. We were the first punters in so we could have a good mooch around the pub. Luton were playing Chelsea on the lunchtime kickoff, so we decided to watch a bit of that while we enjoyed our pints. The service was great, we were served by the Guv’nor who was welcoming and friendly.
The pub shows live Premier League on TNT and Sky. If you fancy testing your grey matter, there is a Pub Quiz on a Thursday.
A Charming Journey Through Canterbury, Sandwich and Dover
#holidayitinerary Exploring Canterbury, Sandwich, and Dover in one trip was a wonderful mix of history, coastal charm, and scenic beauty. Canterbury impressed me with its stunning cathedral, cobbled streets, and cosy cafes, all wrapped in a lively yet timeless atmosphere. Strolling along the old city walls gave lovely views of gardens and historic buildings. Sandwich, with its quiet lanes and medieval architecture, felt like stepping back in time. I enjoyed wandering by the river and discovering small shops tucked away on charming streets.
Dover brought a dramatic change of scenery, with its iconic white cliffs and the impressive Dover Castle perched high above the coast. Walking along the seafront, I could see ferries heading across the Channel, adding to the maritime feel. Each town had its own personality, yet they blended together perfectly for a day filled with history, fresh air, and the unique spirit of Kent.

Stepping into History at Dover Castle
#holidayitinerary Exploring Dover Castle felt like entering a living time capsule. Perched high on the cliffs, the castle offers sweeping views over the English Channel that are worth the trip alone. Walking through its massive stone gates, I was struck by how well preserved the walls and towers are. Inside, the Great Tower is filled with beautifully recreated rooms that give a vivid glimpse into medieval life.
I wandered along the battlements, imagining the soldiers who once kept watch here. The wartime tunnels beneath the castle were a fascinating surprise, telling stories from World War II with immersive displays and sounds. Outside, the green lawns and surrounding grounds made for a perfect place to relax and take in the scenery. Dover Castle combines rich history, impressive architecture, and stunning views, making it one of those places where you can easily spend the whole day without noticing the time pass.

#cruiseholiday Just as striking as the castle are the White Cliffs of Dover, which stretch along the coastline and offer stunning views across the English Channel on clear days. A walk along the cliff paths is both peaceful and invigorating, providing a connection to nature and the region’s symbolic role in British identity.
Dover’s town center is compact but features several charming spots, including the Dover Museum, which showcases local history and the Bronze Age Boat—one of the oldest seagoing vessels ever discovered. The port area, while functional and busy, reflects the town’s long-standing maritime ties.
While Dover may not offer the cosmopolitan feel of larger cities, its significance in British history and the natural majesty of its cliffs make it a rewarding destination. It’s a perfect stop for history lovers, hikers, or travelers en route to Europe who want to explore a town that has stood as a sentinel over the Channel for millennia.
