Takao Mountain, a recommended trekking course near Tokyo!
Recommended mountain for climbing near Tokyo!
The distance is close, so you can get there quickly. Along the trekking course, there are many temples, and the view from the top is truly beautiful.
There are also many ancient trees that are hundreds of years old.
You can take a cable car up to a certain point.
If you have time, I highly recommend visiting at least once.

The nearest mountain with Tokyo !!
Mount Takao !! Another beautiful hike just one hour local train ride form Shinjuku!!! They have special train line called Keio line and , it took one hour direct from Shinjuku and it cost me 388 ¥ for one way . And make sure you take the train until end station , the name I put in the photo. And you have a choice here , either hike up and down all the way or take cable car/ chair lift ( same price -450¥ one way ) and walk down . I was there on cloudy day , if sunny day , can see Mount Fuji from the summit of mount Takao . And also beautiful sunset , because the sun set over the mountain and went down to the opposite sea . But , make sure you come back in time if you want to take ( chair lift-4 pm last ) , ( cable car -6:00 pm last ) I might need to go again one more time on the sunny day🤭🤭😜!! Those who like to hike like me , make sure to hike mount Takao while you are in Tokyo !! See you all on the other side of the world 🌎!!.

JED Travel and Tour Businesses Catching Mt Fuji on Mt Takao 😍
Feeling adventurous? Try hiking in Japan! Mount Takao is about an hour train ride from Shinjuku Station. Our plan was to hike up the mountain to get some exercise during our holiday. We were blessed with really good weather, so much so that we are able to see Mount Fuji clearly at the peak! It was really a lovely surprise as we had already plan to head over to Mount Fuji area the next day.
At the base, there are restaurants and shops which you can have a meal or some snacks before hiking. You can choose to hike up all the way or take a cable car ride up first and continue to hike. This was what we did as we wanted to check out the cable car. It was fun and if you want to choose either to take it up or down, I would suggest taking it when you are returning as the view is better. #japan #mounttakao #mustvisit #mustdo

JED Travel and Tour Businesses Low-cost hiking to see the autumn leaves around Tokyo.
Mount Takao is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts. You can enjoy the natural scenery and hike, and you can also see the autumn leaves at the end of the season 🍁🍁🍁
I left Shinjuku at 8:30 am. You can take the Keio Takao Line from Shinjuku, which takes just over an hour (I recommend taking the express train so you don't have to transfer, and you can get there directly).
When you arrive at Mount Takao, if you don't want to hike, you can take the cable car 🚡 or tram 🚎 to the halfway point and then climb to the top (it takes about 40 minutes to reach the top from the halfway point, which is quite friendly).
Climbing: If you choose to hike the whole way, it usually takes about 100 minutes. You can see the details in the picture. Different routes have different levels of difficulty. I recommend taking Route 4, which is more interesting, as it passes through a suspension bridge and the whole route is a small path.
Descending: You can go to Yakuoin Temple to pray. The red maple trees here are the most beautiful. If you choose to walk down the mountain, it will take about 80 minutes (be careful if you have bad knees, as the mountain road is a bit steep).
Overall, Mount Takao is definitely worth a visit. If you're lucky, you can see Mount Fuji. If you have enough energy after descending the mountain at around 2 pm, you can go back to Shinjuku to do some shopping.

Exploring Nature and Culture in Tokyo
This time in Tokyo, we decided to go hiking, so we spontaneously searched for mountains near Tokyo to hike. We ended up at Mount Takao in Hachioji City, a 50-minute train ride from Tokyo, which is known as one of the most popular hiking destinations.
Mount Takao, with a history of 1300 years, is said to be full of spiritual energy and is famous for its Tengu legends. On the way to the summit, you'll pass by many energy spots and the Yakuoin Temple. Don't hesitate to touch and call for good luck! The most famous spot is the Good Luck Octopus next to a 450-year-old cedar tree. It's said that touching the octopus's head brings good fortune.
Although climbing Mount Takao seems easy, don't forget that the elevation is 599 meters and the descent can be steep. It's recommended to wear comfortable clothing and bring snacks. At the base of the mountain, there are souvenir shops and restaurants offering soba noodles. Besides the eight hiking trails, you can also take a cable car or chair lift up the mountain and then walk slowly to the summit.
For transportation, take a train from Shinjuku Station towards Takaosanguchi Station. Get off at Takaosanguchi Station, exit to the right, and walk a few minutes to reach the cable car ticket office at the base of Mount Takao.
