Blossoming in the embrace of 'Han Mountain Father': The May flowers of Zhalute
'Han Wula', in Mongolian means 'majestic mountain', and in Chinese, it is called 'Han Mountain', a branch of the southern foothills of the Greater Khingan Range, spanning across Chifeng City and Tongliao City in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The Mongolian people of Horqin revere it as a sacred mountain, calling it 'Han Mountain Father', and follow the ancient ecological cultural tradition of protecting the natural environment, as well as the strict protection regulations for grassland and forest in the 'Dazhasa'. The Mongolian tribes of Horqin living along Han Wula have been practicing mountain, water, tree, and Oboo (a type of sacred cairn) worship activities for thousands of years. The mountains that are worshipped are prohibited from hunting and logging, and the trees that are worshipped are named 'sacred trees' and are strictly protected. As a result, the vast forests and wetlands of Han Wula are preserved, playing a significant role in water conservation and nurturing numerous rivers such as the Heiha River, maintaining a positive regional ecological development.
The Han Mountain range is divided into five branches according to the height and distribution of the mountains. The branch on the watershed in the central and northern part of Zhalute Banner, Tongliao City, is collectively called Hairihan Mountain, and its main peak is the 270,000-acre Hairihan Forest Farm, which is also the place where the Horqin Grassland embraces the Greater Khingan Range. 'Hairihan' in Mongolian means beautiful and lovely, and just like its name, Hairihan Forest Farm has distinct seasons and magnificent scenery. Every year, as May arrives, the tens of thousands of acres of wild azaleas in Zhalute Banner's Hairihan Forest Farm burst into bloom in the embrace of 'Han Mountain Father'. The mountainsides are covered with purple and red azaleas nestled under or at the edge of the elegant white birch forests. Between the straight, snow-white trunks are clusters of pink and purple flowers. The azaleas bloom like rosy clouds, and the white birches stand like swords, reflecting each other's beauty, creating an overwhelmingly beautiful scene.
The forgotten Horqin Grassland is unbelievably beautiful
The Horqin Grassland is known as China's most beautiful mountain grassland, with varied terrain and undulating landscapes. Cattle and sheep roam freely, and the azure sky and white clouds seem to transport people into a world within a painting.
The Horqin Grassland is also known as the Horqin Sandy Land. It is named after an ancient Mongolian tribal name. Located between 42°5′N to 43°5′N latitude and 117°30′E to 123°30′E longitude. The altitude ranges from 250 to 650 meters, situated on the western side of the Xilamulun River and between the Laoha River, with a high west and low east, stretching over 400 kilometers, covering an area of about 42,300 square kilometers. It falls under the jurisdiction of Wengniute Banner, Aohan Banner of Chifeng City, and Horqin Left Wing Rear Banner, Naiman Banner, Kulun Banner of Tongliao City in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China. Geologically, it belongs to the Songliao Platform Sags, Jilin Sub-Fold Belt, and Inner Mongolia Fold Belt. Since the Quaternary period, the western part of the grassland has been slowly rising, while the eastern part has been slightly subsiding, depositing a loose rock series up to 200 meters thick from the Late Pleistocene to the Holocene, forming the material basis for the 'tuos' and 'dians'.
Climate characteristics: The climate is cold in winter, hot in summer, and windy in spring.
This is not the famous Hulunbuir Grassland, nor is it the vast Xilingol Grassland, but a mountain grassland deeply hidden in people's hearts. The most surprising thing is that there are no mosquitoes here!!!
Passing by Tongliao City
Tongliao City is located in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, at the western end of the Songliao Plain, in the heartland of the Horqin Grassland. It borders Jilin Province to the east and Liaoning Province to the south, and is at the junction of the Northeast and North China regions. The city governs 5 banners, 1 city, 1 county, 1 district, and 1 economic and technological development zone, covering a total land area of 60,000 square kilometers. Tongliao City is a multi-ethnic settlement area dominated by the Mongolian ethnicity, with the Han nationality making up the majority. The total population is 3.1 million, of which 1.38 million are Mongolian, accounting for one quarter of the Mongolian population in the country, making it the most concentrated region of Mongolian population in the nation and the region.
It was really too cold when I arrived in Tongliao, so I didn't stay long. It was only after leaving that I found out I have a cousin in Tongliao.

Second brush Inner Mongolia Pentagon Maple Nature Reserve
The first time was in the early autumn red leaf season, playing with the puppy on the prairie. Although it is summer this time, I didn't expect that the red leaves have a different style without "maple"
Maple Appreciation
Maple leaves are generally three corners, only this area is unique with five corners, so it is called Pentagon Maple. The Pentagon Maple trees here are scattered among the meadows, either alone or clustered into forests. It has a comic feel in summer, and enters the best maple viewing season in October. Don't miss it if you want to see red leaves
Maple Forest Camp
There has been a lot of changes compared to when I came last time. The newly built Maple Forest Camp is scattered with tent hotels. It must be very comfortable to stay here for one night. A crayfish beer festival limited to summer is still being held
Little Maple Fun Childhood
A super suitable grassland parent-child theme park for walking babies, various immersive amusement projects will definitely make the children have fun
