🚞 Top of Europe: A Scenic Ride to Jungfraujoch
Taking the train up to Jungfraujoch was one of the most unforgettable moments of our Switzerland trip. The journey itself felt like a slow cinematic unveiling of nature’s grandeur — from green valleys to snow-dusted peaks, every moment outside the window was postcard-worthy.
We started the ride from Interlaken Ost, with train changes at Lauterbrunnen and Kleine Scheidegg. The Swiss railway system was impressively efficient and well-signed, so navigating was smooth. As the altitude increased, the scenery transformed dramatically — lush forests gave way to icy slopes, and soon we were literally in the clouds.
The final stretch, from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch, runs mostly through a tunnel inside the Eiger. There were brief stops with viewing windows inside the mountain, which added to the excitement. Once we emerged at the top, it felt like we were on another planet — icy, windy, and surrounded by majestic white peaks.
At Jungfraujoch, the views of the Aletsch Glacier were simply stunning. We walked through the Ice Palace, took in panoramic views at the Sphinx Observatory, and even had a quick snowball fight outside. Definitely cold, but worth every layer we wore.
Highly recommend booking seats in advance, especially during peak seasons. This ride wasn’t just transportation — it was a breathtaking part of the experience.
