A restaurant I definitely wanted to visit on my trip to Kitakyushu I saw this restaurant on TV Tempura for lunch Izakaya for dinner I went there for lunch❣️ The restaurant is small, with only a few counter seats and one table, but it has a very homey feel♪ There is only one menu option, the "Tempura set meal" You pay for the cold water, pickles, and the bill ────────────── 🥢Tempura set meal...800 yen ☑︎Drink included...1,000 yen ────────────── Extra large servings of rice and miso soup are free🙌 (Of course I ordered extra large servings for both🎶) It came in the same amount as a bowl🤣 On top of the rice, there was some minced chicken🍚 Freshly fried tempura came out one after another at a good pace‼ ️ Vegetables, meat, fish... The odd ones were tofu and fish sausage. It is only an hour’s drive from Fukuoka City, making it a great place for a day trip. The following is my itinerary for the day, for your reference. ⭐️Mojiko Station⭐️ We arrived at Mojiko Station early in the morning. This station was built in 1914 and is an important cultural property of Japan. The station's European architectural style is very unique and worth taking photos of. ⭐️Mojiko Retro Street⭐️ The Mojiko Retro Street is a short walk from the station. Many buildings from the Meiji and Taisho periods are preserved here, and walking among them feels like traveling through time. You can visit the old Moji Mitsui Club, where Albert Einstein and his wife stayed during their trip to Japan. ⭐️Mojiko Observatory⭐️ After lunch, you can go to the Mojiko Observatory to overlook the entire port and the Kanmon Strait from a high altitude. When the weather is good, you can even see Shimonoseki City on the other side. ⭐️Kyushu Railway Memorial Museum⭐️ Then visit the Kyushu Railway Memorial Museum, where many historical relics and models related to railways are displayed. 『Cafe LebenTraum』 Located in Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture I heard about their affordable lunch and decided to check it out. ✤ Limited Quantity Chef's Choice Lunch The main dishes include fried shrimp, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), and fried white fish. Each dish is freshly fried upon order, so they come out hot and crispy! The shrimp was plump and juicy, and both the white fish and karaage were delicious. On this day, the side dishes included tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet), macaroni salad, kinpira made with burdock and lotus root, hijiki (seaweed), and a fresh salad 🥗. Everything was so tasty that I couldn’t stop eating the rice. Additionally, the miso soup was packed with ingredients and had a gentle, flavorful broth. "SHIKI Furniture and Japanese Tea Shop" ⁡ Kitakyushu, Fukuoka A newly opened furniture and Japanese tea shop located about a 9-minute walk from JR Moji Station. ⁡ The first floor is a cafe space. The second floor is a furniture exhibition space. ⁡ Tea is my favorite drink, so I stopped by because it said it was a tea shop. ⁡ ✤ Tea chilled zenzai with tea Matcha or roasted green tea. I chose matcha. They make the matcha right in front of you. The first thing you see when you arrive at Mojiko is the Mojiko Station, which has been around for a hundred years. The Kyushu Railway Memorial Museum exhibits The exhibition hall records the development of Kyushu Railway. In addition, you can go to the old Moji Customs and the old Osaka Merchant Marine Building to take photos and reminisce about the prosperity of the past. It is an underwater walkway located about 60 meters below the Kanmon Strait. The total length is 780 meters and the walking time is about 15 minutes. Kitakyushu-Dalian Friendship Memorial Hall: This memorial hall was built by Kitakyushu City to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of friendly city relations with Dalian City, symbolizing the history of cultural exchanges between the two cities. Figure 2. Kitakyushu City Former Moji Customs: Built in 1912 as the Customs Office, it is a two-story red brick building. It was the Customs Office until 1927, and was restored in 1994 to its modern architecture in the neo-Renaissance style. Figure 3. Kanmon Bridge: Connecting Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City and Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, it is a symbolic landmark of the Kanmon Strait. The total length is 1,068 meters, and when it opened in 1973, it was known as the longest suspension bridge in the East Asia region. Figure 4. Undersea tunnel: It is divided into upper and lower layers, the upper layer is the carriageway and the lower layer is the pedestrian path. There is a boundary sign between Fukuoka Prefecture and Yamaguchi Prefecture in the middle of the tunnel. Figure 5. Akama Jingu Shrine: Enshrined here is Emperor Antoku who died in the Battle of Dan-no-ura. Figure 6. Peace Memorial Hall: Located next to Shunpanro in Amidaji-cho, this memorial hall is themed on the Treaty of Shimonoseki signed between China and Japan in 1895. Figure 7. Dream Tower Observatory: The observation room is located at a height of 143 meters, and you can see the scenery from the Kanmon Strait and Ganryu Island directly below to Kyushu and Hibiki Beach on the opposite bank.

#福冈之旅 💞Recommendation reason: On a sunny morning, I took the train from Fukuoka, full of anticipation for Mojiko Port. This port city full of retro style always makes people yearn for it. The scenery outside the window changed as the train moved quickly. The green fields and the mountains in the distance were intertwined, making me intoxicated. Not long after, I arrived at Moji Port. As you walk out of the station, you are greeted by the fresh sea breeze, which makes you feel refreshed. The buildings in Mojiko have retained many of the features of the Meiji era. The red brick warehouses and retro buildings made me feel like I had traveled back in time. I strolled casually around the harbor, the sun shining on my body, feeling warm and comfortable. The sea is sparkling, and the ships in the distance are sailing leisurely. Everything here makes people feel peaceful. Sit on the bench, quietly feel the tranquility, and let your thoughts drift with the sound of the waves. When in Mojiko, you can't miss the famous local curry. After passing a few small restaurants, I decided to go into a curry shop with a cute decor. I ordered a Mojiko-style curry, and the aroma was so fragrant. The curry sauce is rich and paired with fresh seafood, I can't help but eat one bite after another. Every bite was so satisfying and made me appreciate the charm of this city more deeply. After dinner, I continued to explore the charm of Mojiko. We walked along the coastline, admired the beautiful scenery of the port, and saw many local specialty shops. Whether it is handicrafts or local specialties, they all make me feel the strong local culture. As the sun gradually sank to the west, I reluctantly ended the day's journey and took the train back to Fukuoka. This trip to Mojiko not only allowed me to taste delicious curry, but also made me feel the beauty and tranquility of life under the sunshine. I hope to come to this charming place again in the future and continue to explore more stories.
