Munich City,German
Munich,
Bavaria’s capital, is home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. The city is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and its beer halls, including the famed Hofbräuhaus, founded in 1589. In the Altstadt (Old Town), central Marienplatz square contains landmarks such as Neo-Gothic Neues Rathaus (town hall), with a popular glockenspiel show that chimes and reenacts stories from the 16th century

There are also several place of interest here like the Eisbachwelle, where you will be able to do some surfing on a man made river only if you are someone brave enough for the cold, and the waves here are endless!

Oktoberfest in Munich 2022
Getting There - Head to Theresienwiese where there is a huge area just for Oktoberfest. When you enter, there are a lot of bag checks so make sure you are not bringing any large bags, water, or anything dangerous. If you do, there are also lockers outside for a fee.
Attractions - Oktoberfest is one of the most popular beer festivals in the world. Lots of people come from everywhere to attend this. Make sure to visit different beer tents, have a beer, and go on the rides!
Hotels - Hotels nearby are not cheap, so make sure to find a place very far in advance.
Food & Restaurants - Lots of food around! The beer tents also serve food, but if you are looking for cheaper prices, make sure to eat outside the Oktoberfest area!
Shopping - Lots of souvenir shops!

Marienplatz Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
@ MARIENPLATZ, MUNICH.
Marienplatz (English: Mary's Square, i.e. St. Mary, Our Lady's Square) is a central square in the city centre of Munich, Germany. It has been the city's main square since 1158.
During the Middle Ages, markets and tournaments were held in the Marienplatz, which was originally called Markth ("market"), Schranne ("grain market") and later Schrannenplatz ("grain market square"). After said grain market was moved into the modern glass-and-iron Schranne near "Blumenstrasse" in 1853, the square received its new name, starting 9 October 1854.

THE VACATIONER!
Christmas Market in Munich, Germany 🇩🇪
The municipal Munich Christmas Market (Münchner Christkindlmarkt) will take place from Monday, November 27 to Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Marienplatz and Rindermarkt. The traditional Christmas market is an event of the Department of Labor and Economic Affairs (RAW) of the City of Munich.
Since 1972, the original Munich Christkindlmarkt, which dates back to the 14th century, has been held on Marienplatz. After a two-year Corona break, 135 merchandise and gastronomy stalls were back at the market in 2022. The program included Advent music from the town hall balcony, the Krampuslauf or the Himmelswerkstatt for children.
The heavenly workshop Himmelswerkstatt for children aged six to twelve is a little paradise for young craftspeople – crafting fun for free is the name of the game here. At the Krampuslauf (Krampus run), there is no need to be afraid of the creepy creatures and shaggy fellows. Every day, live Bavarian Stubenmusik (traditional folk music), brass bands and choirs set the mood for the Advent season from the town hall balcony. If you want to learn more about the history of the Christkindlmarkt, you can book a guided tour of the Christkindlmarkt at Marienplatz.
Venue: Around Marienplatz (main square) and in the Fußgängerzone (pedestrian street)
Date: 27 November to 24 December, 2023
Mulled wine 🍷 is always a MUST in Xmas Market !! 🎄

We travelled to Munich when we were travelling last December to Europe. It was the Christmas festive season and thus we wanted to visit a Christmas Market. Thus, what better place to visit than the one at Marienplatz. The market was quite big and have beautiful decorations and a big spectacular Christmas Tree. The majestic buildinga around it made the place look even more beautiful.

Marienplatz Central Square Munich Germany
Visited Marienplatz which is Mary’s Square in English. It is located in the city centre of Munich Germany. This new city hall was built between 1867 and 1909 with old looking neo-Gothic style. The old city hall is to the east in the direction of the valley which is almost 400 years old. Their Lord Mayor, city council and city administration has been residing in the new city hall. This is good starting point for a visit to the Bavarian capital. There are many stores and restaurants around Marienplatz. It is a major attraction if you are visiting Munich.
