First Peak, 2168 m above sea level, is one of the interesting destinations for easy hiking on an easy route during the summer. Highlights include the lake in the middle of the mountain (Bachalpsee) / First Flyer (did not try, didn't dare 😅) and First Cliff Walk (when we went, it seemed like it wasn't open yet). To get to the peak, we have to take a train from Interlaken Ost to Grinderwald, which takes about 30-40 minutes. When we got off the Grinderwald train station, we followed the signs to the top of the mountain, which took about 10-15 minutes to walk. After that, we took the cable car, which felt like we were in an amusement park with a view of mountains and grasslands, which took about 40 minutes. From this point, we walked for another 1-2 hours to reach the lake in the middle of the mountain (Bachalpsee). Throughout the journey, we heard bells ringing on both sides, which were the sounds of bells hanging from the necks of cows living around. Many people may worry that hiking on First Mountain is difficult, but in fact, the trail is built as a flat path. It can be said that whether we come to hike with our favorite bicycle, come with a gang, or even bring a stroller to walk on the mountain, we can do it comfortably. We will see that First Mountain in summer has almost no snow left along the way. Therefore, if you want to experience snow in summer, you will have to go to a mountain that is higher than 3,500 m above sea level. For those who come to visit Interlaken, hiking at First Mountain is another interesting option besides Jungfrau Mountain. The main reasons we chose First Mountain are: 1. The lake is at the complete mercy of the wind, so the best views will be on a perfectly sunny day with a calm breeze. Mine was pretty close to it with a slight breeze, and that made the hike worth it. There were fish swimming around the edge of the lake too. This hike is accessible from the Grindelwald First Gondola, which starts near the center of Grindelwald. The hike starts off on a rather steep path that later becomes more gradual or level. It’s a busy trail, so expect to see plenty of other hikers. Once you arrive, there are great views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Be prepared to see cows in the surrounding pastures too! The views here are absolutely fantastic. It is definitely worth the trek here. It takes about 50 minutes to get here from the first cliff walk. There are two lakes here and the water is crystal clear. The lake facing the Alps has the most amazing views. It is definitely an amazing photo spot.

Arrived at Grindelwald First using cable car, you’re immediately immersed in a world of natural beauty. The mix of green grass and white snow. Along the way to the lake, you will pass a lot of terrain with good weather and fresh air straight from the alps. Cold breeze running through your face. Finally after total of 3 km walk, you will finally arrive to the lake. Frozen. Quiet. Peaceful. And so beautiful.
