Khoo Kongsi (Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi) is the family home of the Hokkien Chinese, the Khoo family, who moved to Penang in the past. It was first built in 1890 and rebuilt after a fire in 1902. It stands out with its grand and spacious Chinese architecture. There is a theater, houses of the family members, and a temple, making it the largest family home in Malaysia. Inside the house, there are exhibits on the history of the Khoo family who built it for study, and there are exquisite murals. #malaysia Boon San Tong Khoo Kongsi (文山堂邱公司) Location: 117A, Leboh Victoria, Georgetown, 10300 George Town, Penang, not far from the Chew Jetty and Penag Street Art. This Chinese Hokkien ancestral temple was established in 1907 by a branch of the Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi. Nowadays, it is a historic & protected site, social club and historical museum. Beside that, a nice cafe is within it. Main features: The magnificent architecture, especially the details such as elaborate carving on pillars and walls, intricate embellishments on the beams, plus the exquisite sculptures & colourful ornaments on the roof. #travellerswonderland Entrance fee: RM10 It’s an interesting place to learn how a clan lived 100 years ago in Georgetown and learn some history of the town. The main building is gorgeous, the ceiling, the pillars, the walls, everything is decorated in some way or another. I recommend you to visit the buildings first and then the museum as the last one assumes that you already saw the building. u>The only thing I really dislike was that the patio of this place is occupied as parking (at least when we were there) It cost nothing to not park in front of your beautiful building.

#myhiddengems Very beautiful clan building. You can only see and take pictures at the exterior building only. It's decoration is very details and beautiful. What an unfortunate that they do not allow visitors to look see the interior of this unique and beautiful building. They have two sides building selling some suvenior and a small little cafe selling coffee and tea.

#penangtrip This is a well-preserved, historically important monument that is still being used today. One of the oldest clan house in Penang and South East Asia, this is a truly magnificent piece of architecture and design dated more than a century ago. This place was not easy to find, no clear signs as it was located inside an alley. I had to ask several people beforehand. The building is majestic, the craftsmanship is really detailed and beautiful. It is well maintained, organized and clean too, much better than other tourist designations in Penang. Am glad to be here during my short stay. Good place to visit with family too!
