WE LOVE THE DECOR OF THE CAFE WITH WALLS FULL WITH TRADITIONAL AND CLASSIC PLATES, CUPS, LAMPS, THERMOS AND KETTLES FROM THE OLD ERA. THE SEATING TOOK US BACK TO THE 70'S WITH OLD FASHION SOFAS. Popped into Calanthe Art Café near Jonker Street and instantly loved the quirky, artsy vibe — think mismatched furniture, local artwork, and cozy corners that make you want to linger a little longer. They’re famous for serving coffee from all 13 Malaysian states, which is pretty cool if you’re into trying different regional blends. I ordered the Melaka Coffee cos… we were in Melaka right?? But the food deserves a shout too — I tried their satay, and it was surprisingly good! Tender, smoky, and served with a rich peanut sauce. As for the Calanthe Laksa, it was decent — creamy and flavorful in its own right — but I still prefer the Singapore version with cockles (see hum) for that briny kick. Personal taste, I guess! We took a coach from JB to Melaka and stayed 2 nights. Melaka has so much to offer, nice food, lots of walking and places of interest and we enjoyed ourselves so much. The people are very warm and helpful. Going around with grab was cheap and convenient, no worries about traffic jam and parking! Leave your car behind!! #melaka We would love to take a short to Melaka more often☺️😀

The chicken ponteh had a nice, home-cooked feel to it, which was comforting. The vibe of the place is really chill with an old-school charm. Also, the sweet sago with gula Melaka was such a treat. Definitely worth checking out!

This cafe if you wanted to enjoy the aircond, better sit in the front seat. I love this cafe because they let you choose different state in Malaysia coffee for example Johor coffee, Kelantan coffee or Melaka coffee. So, we recommended this place by our hostel as one of the cafes worth trying. Apparently the claypot laksa and their varieties of coffee are popular. The entrance to the cafe can be a bit hidden because of all the vines hanging from the roof and support beams of the front porch. Were it not for customers and/or staff sitting/standing on the porch, I’d easily walk past the cafe. Inside, the decorations have the look of an art class with paintings, beat up utensils and elements of beach and maritime theme in keeping with the history of Melaka. #internationaltravel #travel #couplestrip

Calanthe Art Café This beautiful cafe is full of charm and interesting finds. There are multiple seating areas in this cafe that all have their own unique decor. It is the perfect rest stop for a coffee/snack, a hearty breakfast, and even for lunch/dinner! The menu is vast and includes Nyonya and western options. It also includes some vegetarian options for my fellow veggies out there. The kaya toast and soft boiled eggs with soy came with a kopi (many options to choose from) and only cost me 12 MYR after tax.
