[2025 Chaozhou Stay] Travel Guide for Crowne Plaza Chaozhou Riverside (Updated Apr)

I've longed to visit Chaozhou, and I finally managed to arrange the trip✈️ Although three days and two nights is not a lot of time, I was able to satisfy my cravings and sightseeing desires😌. The only downside was the weather; it was overcast and rainy☔️. Weather really does play an important role when going out to have fun~ 🚘Transportation: Day one Nanjing✈️Jieyang🚕Shantou Day two Shantou chartered car tour around Nan'ao Island, circling the island, then off to Chaozhou Day three Chaozhou🚕Jieyang✈️Nanjing 🏨Accommodation: Shantou——Junhua Haiyi Hotel, just a five-minute walk to Longyan South Road, convenient for ordering takeout, with butler service in the hotel, which is quite considerate. However, the hotel is clearly dated, with older facilities. Chaozhou——Tengrui Crown Hotel, quite new, we stayed on the 38th floor with a nice view, the room environment and facilities were great~ The service was okay, not as considerate as the butler service in Shantou. 🎈Fun: Shantou——Strolled around the Little Park and Shantou Travel Agency, quite leisurely, good for taking photos, but the ferry ride back and forth didn't seem very interesting. Nan'ao Island——The chartered driver took us around for a check-in tour, there are many scenic spots, but unfortunately the weather was bad, so we just took photos for check-in. Nan'ao Island's beaches are nice, we could bring kids here in the future and stay on the island for a night. Chaozhou——Hanwen Gongci and Guangji Bridge are worth visiting, they have a strong sense of history and are close to each other, the light show on Guangji Bridge is quite stunning! Paifang Street is full of merchants, similar to Nanjing's Laomendong 😊Chaozhou is really delicious, with historical sites, culture, and natural scenery. Next time, I'll wait for good weather and come to play again👋

In Chaozhou, this is the only IHG hotel, and surprisingly, both its facilities and service exceeded my expectations. After arriving at "Chaoshan Station" by high-speed rail, don't rush to take a taxi. The K2 bus inside the station takes 40 minutes directly to "Qiaodong Station," and the hotel is just across the street (wouldn't it be better to spend that 50+ yuan taxi fare on beef hotpot instead!). The 188m landmark building reaches into the clouds! Hotel rooms are located on floors 32-40. The front desk staff were not only efficient but also professional during check in, proactively introducing hotel features and local travel tips. They even added an IHG membership identifier sticker to the key card holder. Guest rooms feature panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows with motorized curtains, a three-way bathroom design, and a retractable curtain separating the bathing area that integrates seamlessly with the room when pulled back. The view outside is first-class with excellent visibility, offering unobstructed views of Chaozhou city, Han River, and Guangji Bridge. The restaurant has great views with plenty of seating, and window seats overlook Han River Tower and Guangji Bridge. Breakfast offers a rich variety of choices, including a station for freshly cooked Kway Teow and noodles (you can add bouncy beef balls), and fresh Chaozhou rice noodle rolls in the morning, which are really delicious. The hotel's location is truly prime, facing the ancient city of Chaozhou across the river (just cross Jinshan Bridge to reach Paifang Street), 15 minutes to Han Wen Gong Temple, and the night view of Guangji Bridge is right at your doorstep. The hotel facilities are excellent too - among the many hotels I've stayed in, this ranks as one of the very best.

Chaozhou and Shantou are cities that combine delicious food and the festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year. Last year, I went to Changbai Mountain to experience the snow, and this year, I took my family to Chaozhou and Shantou to celebrate the Chinese New Year! This time, I planned a 4-day trip to Chaozhou, a 1-day trip to Shantou, and a 2-day trip to Nan'ao. Due to the word limit, I will write them separately. On the first day, I took a flight from Shanghai to Jieyang Chaoshan Airport at 8:30 am and arrived at 10:30 am. I went straight to the hotel. I booked a room with a view of Guangji Bridge at Crowne Plaza Chaozhou Riverside two months ago (you need to book in advance for the Chinese New Year, or the price will be much higher). The view of Guangji Bridge from the window was amazing. After checking in, I went straight to the first stop, Liu Bu Lu Goose in the Paifang Street. I walked there to avoid traffic. I ordered a platter (goose head, goose neck, goose meat, goose gizzard, and goose wing) and tofu and duck blood. If you plan to eat there, I suggest you buy a group-buying coupon in advance. You need to book in advance during peak season, or you will not get a seat like us. I think the goose head and goose meat are the best. After eating, I went to Longhu Ancient Village, which is the farthest from the city. The ancient street is simple and runs from north to south. No ticket is required. You can see the architectural features of the ancestral halls in Chaozhou. After that, I went straight to Guantang Youjian Beef to eat hot pot. This place was recommended by a local driver. He said that there is a slaughterhouse nearby, so the beef is very fresh. The restaurant is large, and the beef is cheap. I ordered almost every kind of beef, such as ribeye, marbled beef, and beef tendon. I suggest you not order the spicy pot, which is too salty. The bone soup pot is good, with a base of bitter melon and pork ribs, which is good for reducing internal heat. After eating, I went back to the hotel and ordered oil olive tea and mung bean cake. I enjoyed the night view of Guangji Bridge and the light show while eating. I could hear the music in the hotel, which was very comfortable. On the first day, I visited the farthest attractions and tasted the delicious food. This hotel in Chaozhou is truly satisfying~ First of all, the location is excellent. You can walk to the east bank of Guangji Bridge. If you want to go to the pedestrian street, it's just a 5-minute drive. Very convenient. The hotel is very new. It should be the tallest building in Chaozhou. I chose a river view room. You can overlook the river view on the side of Guangji Bridge. The room is comfortable and spacious. There is a shower and a bathtub. The marble design looks particularly high-end.
