Shanghai's Hidden Gem of Affordable Luxury: A Deep Dive into Fairfield by Marriott (Dishui Lake)
Hey friends 👋, today I discovered a hidden treasure among Shanghai's budget hotels – Fairfield by Marriott (Dishui Lake) 🎈. The value for money is absolutely unbeatable, and I just had to share this find with you all!
🏠 Room Types & Pricing
I originally booked a standard king room but ended up in a corner business king room. Located at No. 169 Ruimu Road, Lingang New Area, Pudong District, the price was 488 RMB – incredibly reasonable for Shanghai standards!
💯 Highlights Galore
🌟 Brand New & Odor-Free
This hotel is super fresh, having just opened last year, but with zero new-renovation smells. Walking into the room, you're greeted by a light air freshener fragrance – so comfortable and definitely a major plus 👍!
💁♂️ Thoughtful Upgrade & Delicious Breakfast
After chatting with the front desk, I was pleasantly surprised with complimentary breakfast and an upgrade to a corner room. This corner room was amazing – nearly double the space of a standard king room, complete with my long-desired bathtub 🛁. Instant happiness overload!
The real showstopper? The hotel breakfast is to die for 😋! Probably the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. You can get freshly made noodles (both mixed and soup versions), along with fresh shrimp, croissants, fish skin, milk, and more – the variety is dazzling. I was so busy devouring everything that I forgot to take photos – it was just that good!
🤩 First Taste of Marriott Quality
This was my first experience with a Marriott property, and I must say, it delivered exceptional value. The price perfectly matched the experience, truly showcasing the charm of a major brand.
🤔 Minor Gripes
💸 Slightly Pricey for Students
While the value is excellent, for a student like me, the price is still a bit steep – more of an occasional treat to reward myself 😅.
🛍 Limited Surrounding Amenities
Similar to the neighboring Campanile Hotel, there aren't many shops nearby – hardly any snack spots or supermarkets, and it's a bit far from Lingang University Town. Thankfully, food delivery is available, which helps compensate.
🛏 Missing Firm Pillows
Personally, I was a tad disappointed by the lack of firm pillow options. Preferences vary, so having that choice would've been ideal.
All in all, despite minor drawbacks, Fairfield by Marriott (Dishui Lake) shines with its newness, thoughtful service, and fantastic breakfast. If you're visiting Shanghai's Lingang area, don't miss this high-value hotel option 🎊!
