[2025 Da Nang Stay] Travel Guide for Hoi An Lantern (Updated May)

The city of Hoi An is amazing, I had the opportunity to visit this delightful and historically significant town situated in the heart of Vietnam, along the eastern coastline. This enchanting place is celebrated for its impeccably maintained ancient buildings, its abundant cultural legacy, and its idyllic location nestled beside the tranquil Thu Bon River. Hoi An has consistently earned a reputation as one of Vietnam's most captivating and culturally rich towns, and it proudly holds the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Site status since 1999.

Had a fantastic time with friends away at Hoi An where we explored the old town, ate the local cuisine, and even took a lantern making class. After the first week spent in Hoi An, we traveled to nearby Cham Islands, and stayed at a lovely Homestay where we snorkelled off the coast to this secret spot with coral nearby. Stunning views and lovely people - what more could one ask for.

One of the most beautiful places to visit in Vietnam (is just 45 minutes away from Da Nang) I rented a motorcycle (150.000 dongs -6 to 7 USD) is my best recommendation to know all and fast travel (but becareful to drive is not easy and need to becareful when driving because in some areas can be chaotic and scary if no experience), you can not entrance with the vehicle to the river so need to walk some blocks (the parking is in the street and cost 10.000 dongs) but is really nice to see the stores and local colture, after arrive you ca nwalk for long time next to the river and enjoy the view, there are many bars to visit, recommend to enjoy the street food. the beer price goes from 35.0000 to 50.000 dongs and the food from 25.000 to 150.000 dongs (in normal places), there are many rooftop that are amazing to see a better view.

Had an absolutely amazing time making lanterns with very hands-on instructors at "The Lantern Lady" in Hoi An. Would definitely recommend it to anyone with space in their luggage.
