Huka falls are a phenomenal natural wonder about ten minutes drive from Taupo on the north island of New Zealand. The waterfalls form huge rapids and produce crazy amounts of foam which is where they get their name, ‘Huka’ is Māori for foam. There’s a small car park at the main entrance with a height over the main entrance rapids, there are various paths that follow the river to various viewing platforms. We only walked for about ten minutes and found two viewing platforms with incredible views. The falls themselves really are unbelievable and the sheer force of them is hard to comprehend, you can hear the water before you see it. If you’re in the area you really need to visit!
