[2025 Seoul Attraction] Travel Guide for Mangwon Market (Updated Jun)

If you have time, I highly recommend taking a stroll through Mangwon Market to experience the local market culture of Seoul! Although the strawberry season is coming to an end, during our visit over the past few days, we found that the strawberries here are the cheapest 🍓! If it weren't for the fact that the hotel fridge still had some from earlier purchases, I would have bought more. The strawberries sold at Mangwon Market look incredibly fresh—if you happen to pass by, I suggest buying a box to try! The market offers a wide variety of goods, ranging from seafood, fresh and cooked food, Korean snacks, to all kinds of household items, clothing, and fruits. You don't necessarily have to shop; you can simply wander around and soak in the lively local atmosphere. (I ended up not buying anything 🙋) P.S. There's a small exhibition nearby, so I visited it while I was in the area!

#KoreaTrip I went to two cafes in Mangwon-dong so I'll introduce them to you. The first one is [Mangwon-dong Tiramisu] 87 Poeun-ro, 마포구 Mapo-gu, Seoul, Korea 11:00-22:30 A famous cafe for tiramisu! It's not as sweet as it looks, and it's fluffy and delicious. The inside of the cafe is small, but it has a calm atmosphere. The original tiramisu is a fine powder so you need to be careful when eating it (lol) The second cafe is [cafe cment] The store is small, but it's almost full. The croffle looked delicious so I tried it! I finished it in no time. Anyway, this is a cafe where a lot of young girls gather! Both are a few minutes walk from Mangwon Market.

Mangwon market is a traditional market in Mapo-gu that is within close proximity to Hongdae and the Han River so it’s easy to stop by, grab some food and be on your way. You can even pack them for a picnic by the Han River! They have many things here in the market, from fresh produce and ready made bites. They are known for some delicious Jokbal or pig trotters. They simmer way for hours until the meat is nice and tender. From experience, don’t buy from the big mainstream grocery stores. It isn’t as good. But from the farmer’s market like this, oooh it’s good! One of my other favorite is the Chicken bites! The stall solely focus on bite size dakganjang (chicken bites). There is a wide variety of chicken bites that have been doused in different sauces. My favorite are the spicy selection. if you like chicken; you’ll like this stall!
