I'm back from Qinghai Lake, and let me tell you the truth: I came to this city because of a song.
Have you ever been drawn to a city by a song? The lyrics "The water of Qinghai Lake, as blue as a dream, the sky reflected on the lake's surface, clouds floating between the water" from the song "Qinghai Lake" inspired my February trip to Qinghai Lake. Check out this guide!
📍Qinghai Lake, located in the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, is China's largest inland saltwater lake. Its waters resemble deep blue sapphires, surrounded by vast grasslands and snow-capped mountains. It's a melting pot of cultures, including Tibetan and Mongolian, with rich traditions. Nature and humanity blend seamlessly here.
🚌Transportation Guide
✈️Airplane: Fly to Xining Caojiabao International Airport and transfer to the city center by airport bus or taxi. To reach Qinghai Lake, you can take a special tourist bus and enjoy the scenery along the way, or hire a car for a more flexible itinerary, stopping at scenic spots as you please.
🚌Local Transportation: Sightseeing buses connect attractions around the scenic area. For a more immersive experience, try horseback riding or renting a motorcycle from the local herders.

Depart from Xining in the morning and head to the Erlangjian Scenic Area. Along the way, grasslands and mountains gradually come into view. Upon arrival, the deep blue lake water will captivate you. In February, the lake surface is mostly frozen, with ice cracks resembling exquisite artwork. Stroll along the lake, listen to the waves lapping the shore, and watch the water birds play.

Wake up early in the morning to witness the sunrise over Qinghai Lake.
