Paying Respects at Pu-Ya Shrine for the Mid-Autumn Festival
The Pu-Ya Shrine Foundation in Udon Thani is a significant tourist attraction that draws visitors interested in art, culture, and the Chinese-Thai community in the province. The cultural center is designed as a complex of buildings, including the Morality Museum, which tells the story of the Chinese-Thai community in Udon Thani over the past 120 years. It covers topics such as trade, education, the unification of 9 organizations and 11 clans, and the Pu-Ya Shrine Foundation. The shrine is dedicated to the revered deities Pu and Ya. The Hall of Honor celebrates individuals who have made sacrifices for the Chinese community. The center also provides interesting information about the 8 traditional Chinese worship ceremonies and features a 3D cinema. The shrine houses the Golden Dragon, which is displayed annually at the Thung Si Muang Festival. The surrounding area includes two pavilions over the water, offering a serene atmosphere and Chinese-style garden decorations. Shrine of Pu-Ya is located behind the train station near Nong Bua Market, Nittayo Road. It is a large and beautiful Chinese shrine with a garden by the lotus pond. The surrounding area has 2 pavilions in the middle of the water. The atmosphere is shady. In this shrine, there is also a 99-meter long golden dragon, which is used in the Thung Si Mueang Festival every December. Tips for worshiping and asking for blessings In addition to worshiping with 30 incense sticks, worshiping the shrine of Pu-Ya must offer 4 oranges. When you have worshiped at all 6 points, walk to the Kao Liao Bridge, which is believed to be the point of connection to heaven. You will know what blessing you have asked for. When you are done, come and say goodbye to the shrine of Pu-Ya. Ready to bring back 2 oranges. The first sacred object that should be visited at this shrine is "Tee Tee Pae Bo" or shortly called "Tee Kong" or in Thai "San Thep Ya Da Fa Din" which is a worship of heaven or the gods in heaven (at Chinese temples or Chinese shrines, there will always be "Tee Tee Pae Bo" everywhere). The Tee Kong pillar was built in the 51st committee period (2544 BE) with a height of 14.4 meters. The second sacred object is "Pueng Tao Kong Ma" or in Thai "Chao Pu Chao Ya" built in the 41st committee period (2534 BE). Inside the shrine, there is a statue of "Chao Pu Chao Ya" which most of the descendants of Udon Thani people will come to worship to ask for blessings for good fortune all the time. According to the belief in sacredness, it is said to be very sacred. Whatever you ask for will always come true. #Worship and ask for blessings #Travel in Isan
