Shimen Dam, also called Shimen Reservoir is strategically important place for the Hanzhong city. That was my first time to come and see the Dam. It was very interesting to got to know how does it function. And area surrounding the Dam is admirable. Very good for taking pictures and for long distance walking. Not overcrowded. Yes, the city is surrounded by many hills and it's moderate climate allows to culture tea there. Well, this scenic area depicted below is one if the most important landmarks around the city. A taxi or airport bus will take you directly to the city center in about 30 minutes, super convenient～ 🚄 High-speed Rail: Hanzhong Station has many trains, and it only takes 1-2 hours from Xi'an or Chengdu! Shimen Plank Road | The only existing authentic copy of Wei Wang Cao Cao In the embrace of Qinling Mountains and Bashan Mountains, there is an ancient road carrying a rich history - Shimen Plank Road. Hanzhong Shimen Plank Road is the site of the plank road that Liu Bang used to "openly repair the plank roads, secretly cross Chencang." Zhuge Liang also took this road during his Northern Expeditions. However, the original plank road was submerged due to the construction of the Shimen Reservoir.
