【The beautiful scenery of West Lake】 After returning to Hanoi from Halong Bay, we stayed at Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, which is located next to West Lake. It is quite far from the city center (it takes about half an hour to walk back to the old quarter, and the taxi was 76,000 when I went out and 38,000 when I returned). Sofitel Plaza Hanoi gives people a very comfortable feeling. Traditional Vietnamese buildings and green streets can be vaguely seen outside. There is a well-lit bar, dessert shop and restaurant in the basement of the hotel. The room design is relatively simple, with different tones of yellow as the theme color. Lotus paintings are hung on the walls to add color. The highlight is definitely the large windows with a great view. There are large right-angled glass windows, a busy road in front, the Red River on the right, and low houses filling the entire screen. The bathroom is very large. It's a bit like a hydromassage shower head. I thought it was weird at first, but later I found it's really comfortable to use it as a hydromassage. I also appreciate the hair dryer here. Besides having sufficient firepower, it is switched on and off by pressing a handle, which gives you a sense of having everything under control. When the fog clears in the morning, you can feel the charm of this big window. (In fact, the night view is quite beautiful) If you have time in the morning, you can take a walk along the river. It is said that there is a museum to visit. Many of the guests of this hotel are early birds. When I checked in at six in the morning, there were already several tables of diners. After getting the food, the place was already bustling with people. It's rare to see such a lively breakfast at six o'clock. The rooms in the Opera Wing are very clean. The red color of the bathroom is also cute. Macarons were distributed to the rooms during turndown service. The white-based atmosphere of the lobby floor is also wonderful, and the hotel has many luxury brand shops, such as Hermes. This hotel also has an air-raid shelter that was actually used during the war, and there is an air-raid shelter tour every evening. If there is availability, they will ask you if you would like to join the tour at check-in, but it is very popular, so if you have a preference, it may be better to request it when making a reservation. From the moment I step into the hotel, I was greeted with warmth and friendly smiles from the front desk. From check in to breakfast to check out, everything was impeccable. I am truly impressed by the standards set by this hotel and the warmth hospitality by Hanoians. The hotel itself is full of history. Opened in 1901, it hosted famous guests like Charlie Chaplin, Angelina Jolie and even hosted the famous Trump Kim Summit in 2019. The rooms are of decent size, but luxuriously decorated. The toiletries given is from Balmain. There is Hermes, Rolex and other luxury shops on the ground floor of the hotel. Also there is a popular bar called Angelina Bar which is very instagrammable. I also notice alot of models/influencers coming to the outside of hotel to take photos. During my stay, the hotel was kind enough to give me a box of chocolate from their chocolatier shop down there. I was in awe after I found out the price they sell in the shop! Overall a very nice and relaxing stay in the hotel. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting downtown Hanoi. The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms (there was even a tv by the shower), and high quality service. Also, they are one of few hotels that allow people under 21 to book a reservation. Great location, easy to get in and out of the city. The staff was wonderful. The hotel is well maintained. The beds were very firm, too firm for my liking. The food was good. Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel, an old hotel in Hanoi, has been open since 1901. It is full of history and stories. Inside the hotel, there is a small museum and an ancient bomb shelter for guests to visit. We stayed in a Premium room on the same floor as the Club lounge. The room was beautiful and had all the amenities. The hotel also gave us a surprise birthday cake. It was so cute. The food and drinks in the lounge were quite good. The service was great.
