Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund
**Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund** is not just a place to stay, it is a sensory space that completes the mood of the trip. The hotel is located right in front of the Huangpu River, so the biggest attraction is that you can see the Bund and Pudong skyline at the same time from your room. In particular, riverside rooms with a good view are popular, so it is a good idea to request them in advance or try to check in early. I was fortunate enough to be assigned a room with a view of the Huangpu River, and in the morning, I could see the calm river and foggy cityscape, and at night, I could see the twinkling lights of the high-rise buildings. The bathroom also had a large window, so it was really nice to sit in the bathtub and enjoy the view.
The atmosphere felt unique as soon as I entered the lobby. The industrial interior that seemed to mix tradition and modernity, along with the gorgeous lighting, made me feel like the ‘night of Shanghai’ was beginning. The hallways and rooms were filled with props that captured the atmosphere of old Shanghai, making it feel like I was staying in an art space in the city. The room condition was also great, and I was able to sleep well thanks to the neat and stylish interior, ample storage space, and luxurious bedding. The Wi-Fi in the room was fast and stable, so there was no inconvenience at all for work or video streaming.
One of the highlights of the hotel is the rooftop bar, CHAR Bar & Grill, on the top floor. You can enjoy a glass of wine while looking at the panoramic view of Pudong's high-rise buildings and the classic buildings of the Bund. The most popular time is from sunset to around 9 p.m., so if you really want to secure a seat, I recommend making a reservation in advance. Although there is no view for breakfast, the variety is diverse and the food quality is good. In particular, there is a good selection of Chinese and Western food, so it was easy to choose according to your taste.
The auxiliary facilities were also great. The indoor swimming pool on the 7th floor is not large, but it is modern and quiet, so it is perfect for morning exercise or evening healing time. The gym is also open 24 hours, so it is a good environment for those who want to maintain a workout routine while traveling. The staff was also friendly and quick to respond. I was satisfied with the overall quality of service from check-in to check-out. However, some reviews said that the interior and lighting of some old rooms may feel a bit dark, but to me, it actually felt more atmospheric.
The location of this hotel is perfect for travelers. Not only the Bund, but also Yuyuan Garden, Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, and Xintiandi are all within 10-20 minutes on foot or by subway. Thanks to this, I was able to see Shanghai's representative tourist attractions in a short period of time.
Overall, Hotel Indigo Shanghai Bund was a place with a stylish design, Huangpu River view, great location, and facilities. If you want to spend a special day at a travel destination, this hotel is an excellent choice. If I visit Shanghai again next time, I plan to stay here again.
