Chiang Mai, Thailand: The most glittering temples I've ever seen | Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
🇹🇭 Wat Phra That Doi Suthep (Doi Suthep Temple) in Chiang Mai
The most surprising attraction for me.
You can fully experience the Thai people's devout devotion to Buddhism. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a popular temple, has over 300 steps and is flanked by two dragons, hence its name.
Of course, walking up and down all those steps is impossible🤣
So we took the cable car. It was a shame we were pressed for time and didn't get to take photos of the steps.
To worship, you take a candle and a flower, walk around in time, and then place them on the steps. Add a small amount of money. The tour guide explained that when worshipping, facing your palms down is giving, while facing up is receiving. They all faced down. Only by giving can you receive. It makes perfect sense❗️
I thought the worshipping routine would be boring for my child, but she was incredibly enthusiastic about it, even putting her hands together. She also happened to see a monk chanting and blessing, and she sat there for a long time. It's wonderful~
Although my family doesn't believe in any particular religion, we still follow the local customs and join in the worship. My mom hasn't been feeling well lately. I hope she recovers quickly and safely. This trip was very difficult for her, and she's not as healthy as she used to be. 😢
We all really need to show filial piety in a timely manner.
I often tell my children, "You will grow up, and I will grow old." Life, old age, sickness, and death are all part of this cycle. I hope to cherish every moment. Given the pandemic, I hope to do what I want to do sooner rather than later. No regrets, no regrets.

🇹🇭Chiang Mai Food Special: A Petite Lady Eats Delicious Food
#trip Family Travel #SeptemberDestinations2025 #ChiangmaiTravel #ChiangmaiFood #StreetFood #ThailandTravel #TasteofTravel #Snacks
That's right! In Thailand, you have to eat to your heart's content, and then lose weight back home 😆
🍜Street Food: For the first time in Chiang Mai, I felt like I could get two dishes for $100 baht. Such impressive affordability! Many places don't force you to spend a minimum. You can grab skewers, fried noodles, coconut water, smoothies, boat noodles, and pork knuckle rice for just $10! Feel free to show off!
✔️My favorite banana pancakes were so good I forgot to take a picture 😂
✔️This time, I fell in love with the Thai shaved ice with toppings and longan honey syrup 😋
✔️Mario Star Pork Knuckle Rice is delicious, and I want the pork rib broth.
🍢Night Markets: Everyone has their own preferences. I recommend Asanu Market (for a comprehensive food, drink, and shopping experience) and Chiang Mai University Night Market for the best prices!
🥤Market: I absolutely love Warorot Market. The prices are so cheap! It looks like it's full of locals. The fruit is especially good and cheap, it makes me want to cry. Even the street vendors are fun to browse. I highly recommend it! After a shopping spree, I headed straight back to my B&B to stock up. 👍
✔️A room for two at Love Durian is only $150 baht, rambutan $50, and green grapes $60

⸻
🌟 Highlights
• 🏯 Ancient Grand Chedi: Built around the 20th Buddhist century, this towering structure showcases authentic Lanna-style architecture.
• 🪵 Exquisite Wooden Viharn: A large, intricately carved wooden hall with a dark, solemn tone that contrasts beautifully with the brick-colored chedi behind it.
• 📜 Historical Significance: Once a site for religious ceremonies conducted by the kings of the Mangrai dynasty.
• 🌸 Peaceful Atmosphere: Surrounded by lush gardens and large trees, offering a serene and tranquil environment.
• 📸 Popular Photo Spot: Especially stunning during morning and evening hours when sunlight casts a magical glow on the viharn.
🇹🇭Chiang Mai's Michelin-starred Northern Thai Cuisine: Ekachan
"Ekachan The Wisdom of Ethnic Thai Cuisine เอกฉันท์," which has been consistently recommended by Michelin in recent years and is incredibly popular and difficult to book, was easily booked by me during the off-season 😎. With high expectations for its location in a detached house on the riverside of Chiang Mai's ancient city, I'm sharing my polarized thoughts!
💫 Let's start with the good part: the setting. The two-story Thai-style stilt house sits beneath a century-old banyan tree. At night, the small lanterns light up, making it feel like you've stepped into the movie "Love of Siam." Especially on a nice day, book a riverside table—it's incredibly romantic and ceremonial 💕
❌❌❌ There are three reasons why it's not worth it, and I personally think they're the most important!
1. The wait staff were friendly and smiling, but incredibly slow (as is typical for Thais), and they often forget things (like me). But even though I had to call the waiter at least a few times during a meal, it was already quite exciting.
✔️ We promised each table would have a dedicated waiter to explain the dishes, but there wasn't one!
2. Is Northern Thai cuisine Michelin-recognized? A quick online search reveals a lot about signature dishes. For example, the Tom Yum Goong, a signature dish highlighted in the Michelin Guide, has the same sour and spicy balance as supermarket seasoning packets, and the tiger prawns are so soft and their freshness is questionable! And the soul of Thai cuisine, curries like the "Golden Curry Soft Shell Crab," are nothing like the online "life-like curry" and their incredibly crispy texture!
3. Oh my god! A meal for two people in Thailand (without alcohol) can cost 1,500 baht. Isn't that shocking? 😱 It's not that I don't want to spend money, it's that I have no idea what memorable dishes I ate. It's not worth it!

Chiang Mai Lay Flat 01|How to Eat, Drink and Have Fun in the Old Town on a Half-Day Tour
#SeptemberDestinations2025 #Chiang Mai Old Town #Chiang Mai Guide #Chiang Mai Travel #tripFamily Travel #1 Choice
Yes! I knew instinctively that I would love Chiang Mai!
The Old Town is a blend of temples, cafes, handicraft shops, and markets, perfect for strolling and exploring or just relaxing. It was a peaceful, thoughtful, and culturally rejuvenating experience 💕
💫 Tha Pae Gate: I absolutely have to dedicate a dedicated article to it. Over 700 years of history are reflected in its mottled orange walls, and it's a great place to capture life-changing moments with pigeons dancing! A truly unforgettable and recommended experience 👍
💫 Temples: The solemnity and tranquility of Buddhism are undeniable. Wat Phra Singh, with its exquisite architecture, is a photogenic spot. Remember to dress appropriately, covering shoulders and knees. Wat Chedi Luang boasts magnificent ancient temple ruins and towering pagodas, a great place to experience Lanna culture!
💫 Chiang Mai Straw Market (Chang Moi Kao Road)
This street near Tha Pae Gate is famous for its handmade straw products and connects to Warorot Market. Wearing a floral dress and carrying a straw bag or hat is the perfect outfit for a holiday-inspired atmosphere. 😍
💫 Warorot Market/Chiang Mai Flower Market
Walorot, also known as Kad Luang, is not only a tourist favorite but also a vital shopping destination for locals. Open 24 hours daily, this traditional flower market is a great place to experience Northern Thai culture and purchase fresh flowers for worship. It's especially bustling in the early mornings and evenings!
⏰Opening Hours:
Indoor Market: 6:00 AM - 7:00 PM daily
Street Stalls: 7:00 AM - 12:00 AM daily
💯I absolutely love Chiang Mai's unique, old-fashioned charm and slow pace. Paired with old buildings, Brewginning Coffee, Orange Americano, and traditional Thai dessert shops like Khanom Wan Chang Moi, who wouldn't love Chiang Mai?🥰
Chiang Mai Relaxation 02|Dance with Pigeons at Tha Phae Gate
No amount of online praise can compare to seeing it with your own eyes 😍
🧱 With over 700 years of history, the weathered orange-red city walls exude a unique sense of "destiny" that many admire. Each of the four gates has its own story to tell!
🕊️ The most talked-about activity is "dancing with pigeons," which has become a popular photo spot and a memory anchor for many. While tourist attractions often come with their own photography industries, this is the first time I wholeheartedly agree and highly recommend it. If you're in Chiang Mai, you must star in this life-sized blockbuster 😎
📷 I highly recommend the couple nicknamed "Tha Phae Gate Daniel Wu." The man himself is tall, dark, and easy to recognize. They're usually there from early morning until noon, as he has to work in the afternoon to support his family. Despite this, he enthusiastically directs photos that may seem cheesy but turn out stunning, capturing a free-spirited vibe with a touch of old-movie solitude 🥰 I'm beyond satisfied!
💯 You can also explore the straw-weaving street, Warorot Market, and the Sunday Night Market. I've heard that Chiang Mai's cheapest drugstore, Win, is nearby too. Call me a tourist if you want, but I absolutely love it! 💕 Totally worth it!

Chiang Mai Lying Down 03|The Popular Bib Gourmand BAAN Landai
When arriving in a new city, getting a Michelin star is a must. I've been leaning towards the Michelin Bib Gourmand lately; it's more delicious, satisfying, and affordable, so I chose this popular restaurant that's hard to find during off-season. 💕
💫 The Thai restaurant's dining experience is always very thoughtful. Authentic Thai cuisine paired with a sophisticated atmosphere is a truly captivating experience for a first stop away from street vendors. 😍 For those of you who love photography, you'll definitely be able to capture that colonial, exotic vibe.
💫 They specialize in fusing Northern and Central Thai flavors with modern presentations. It's hard to order easily because the restaurant is so crowded, but the "Red Wine Braised Pork Ribs" are a must-try. The wine is rich and flavorful, and the ribs are tender and go well with rice. I wonder how many 🫶🏻 I need to express my love for them! I also ordered the crab fried rice, and next time I'd like to try the 🦀 "Curry Crab Rice Noodles." I've heard the curry is super delicious, but also incredibly spicy! Don't miss this if you can handle spicy food!
💯 The other dishes and desserts are all excellent. While the prices are a bit high for Thailand, compared to Taiwan, they're more than enough to outperform fine dining establishments. No wonder it's a must-try in Chiang Mai with a full reservation! 👍

Chiang Mai Tourism
🌿 CHIANG MAI – A PLACE IN THE MOUNTAINS AND FORESTS, FINDING PEACE
If Bangkok is noisy, Chiang Mai is the perfect choice for you to escape the dust of the city, find some peace in the mountains and forests. Here there is no rush, no crowds - only ancient temples, rustic villages and cool green nature.
📍 Experience in Chiang Mai
Doi Suthep: A famous temple on the mountain, sacred and has a view of the whole city.
Doi Inthanon: The highest mountain in Thailand, clouds cover the path, great for taking photos.
Baan Kang Wat ancient village: Where you can buy handicrafts, paintings, drink coffee in an artistic space.
Sunday Walking Street Night Market: Hundreds of stalls selling food, souvenirs, vintage clothes.
🍲 Cuisine
Chiang Mai's signature dish is Khao Soi (chicken curry noodles), a spicy and fatty taste typical of Northern Thailand. There is also mango sticky rice, tropical fruit juice - cheap but delicious.
🛌 Accommodation
You can choose a homestay with a mountain view, near terraced fields, or an ancient Thai-style resort. In the morning, you can see clouds floating in front of your house, very chill.
👉 Chiang Mai is for those who like to "live slowly": in the morning, burn incense in the temple, at noon, walk around the art village, and in the evening, leisurely stroll around the night market. A very different vibe from Bangkok, gentle but full of charm.

Upon entering, you'll encounter Luang Por Than Jai, a sacred Buddha image often visited by people to pray for good fortune, success, and love—it's said that their wishes come true so quickly, so much so that people return to fulfill their vows with hundreds of jasmine garlands.
