Stop by to pay respect to the Buddha at Wat Theppitak Punnaram (Wat Phra Khao)
Hello, all the merit-makers. Many of you have probably traveled on Mittraphap Road and noticed a large white Buddha statue. Today, we will take you to make merit by paying homage to the Buddha. When traveling on Mittraphap Road from Bangkok heading to the northeast, we will see a large white Buddha statue standing out among the large mountains. This is Wat Theppitak Punnaram (Wat Phra Khao). It is a peaceful temple in Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. I would like to invite all the merit-makers, if you have the time, to stop by and pay homage to the Buddha. The prominent white Buddha statue is a seated Buddha statue in the blessing posture. It is called Phra Phuttha Sakon Sima Mongkhon or Luang Pho Khao, which was given by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX.
History of Wat Theppitak Punnaram
Wat Theppitak Punnaram or Wat Luang Pho Khao was established on March 12, 1971. It was built at the foot of Khao Si Siat Ao by the idea of Phra Sutthithammarangsri Kamphi Methachan or Than Pho Lee, who planned to build a Buddha statue on the hill. But before the Buddha image was built, he passed away. His disciples joined together to build a Buddha image by expanding the Phra Buddha image, Phra Phrom, cast from reinforced concrete, weighing 3,000 tons, with a lap width of 27 meters. The Buddha image was given the name Phra Phuttha Sakon Sima Mongkhon, making it the largest Buddha image in the world in the blessing posture.
