🎟️Minyuan Stadium, established in the ninth year of the Republic of China (1920), is located in the central area of Wudadao. In the fifteenth year of the Republic of China (1926), it was designed and upgraded by British Olympic champion Li Airui, and was the leading comprehensive stadium in the Far East at that time, and also the first lighted football stadium in China. The stadium has hosted large-scale domestic and international competitions such as the Far East Games, World Games, and North China Games. After the liberation, it has always been the home field of the Tianjin football team, thus becoming a memory coordinate in the hearts of Tianjin citizens. Over the long history, Minyuan Stadium has undergone several reconstructions and major repairs to form the architectural style before this renovation. With the change of the city's development pattern, its basic function of sports competition has gradually disappeared.
🏰The Wudadao area has a profound cultural connotation and historical heritage, and is known as the 'World Architecture Expo'. The completed Minyuan Square, as a 'city living room combining Chinese and Western styles', is a unique urban leisure square where Chinese and Western cultures blend, integrating 'a distribution center for Chinese and foreign tourists, a cultural exhibition center, a leisure sports experience center, and a foreign food center'.
🚶In 2012, Heping District launched the protection and utilization upgrade and renovation project of Minyuan Stadium. The project covers an area of 35,600 square meters, the original building area is 22,000 square meters, after this upgrade and renovation, the new Minyuan Square has a total building area of 72,000 square meters, of which the underground two floors have a building area of 48,000 square meters, the above-ground building area is 24,000 square meters, the central green space is 8,000 square meters, and the inner square retains a 400-meter track. Through the design concept of 'unchanged name, unchanged form, and more enriched functions', Minyuan Square mainly highlights the functions of citizen fitness, tourism services, characteristic culture, and commercial support.
