Great Facilities but Some Improvement Needed
We stayed at TUI BLUE Biomar for a week in an adults-only garden swim-up room. Overall, it was an enjoyable holiday with plenty to do within Biomar and the partner hotels. There were many aspects we really liked, but a few areas could use improvement, especially for stays longer than a week.
· *The Positives**
· *The Room**
The room was spacious and immaculately clean, with a massive bed and plenty of wardrobe space—far more than we needed. The swim-up pool was warm, even warmer than the main pools, making it a nice place to relax in the afternoons. The room was quiet with closed doors, ensuring undisturbed rest. Housekeeping came daily, replenishing supplies including quality toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and even dental kits. Towels were replaced consistently—white room towels when left in the shower and pool towels could be swapped daily at the lifeguard point.
· *Facilities and Activities**
The range of activities stood out as one of the hotel's strengths. We enjoyed mini golf and the driving range, which were included in the stay. However, these outdoor activities can get quite hot during midday, so mornings or evenings are better times for them. There were plenty of spots to relax, including libraries, TV rooms, and a free pool table in the adults area. The In & Out Lounge was another highlight, offering self-service facilities, games, a nap area, and a play area for kids, although it wasn't well-advertised. Sa Coma itself was attractive and easy to explore, with flat paths and various places to visit on foot. While we didn’t try bike rentals, they seemed popular.
· *Drinks and Bars**
The bars were a big plus, offering premium brands like Absolut and Captain Morgan. Bartenders were happy to prepare off-menu cocktails, such as Pornstar Martinis, which were strong but delicious. There was no shortage of places to grab a drink, and we never faced any lines.
· *Food**
We found the food to be acceptable overall. Breakfast offered a wide selection but became repetitive over the week. For lunch, the grill near the swim-up rooms was convenient, serving typical fare like burgers and kebabs daily, which might get monotonous over a longer stay. Dinner was more varied due to themed nights, though preferences for certain cuisines could limit your options on specific evenings. For us, the sweet and sour on Asian night and steak on gala night were standouts. The à la carte restaurants were of noticeably higher quality and worth booking. While snacks were available during the day, they weren’t entirely to our taste, though this is a minor personal preference issue.
· *Things That Could Be Improved**
· *Adults-Only Pool Atmosphere**
The adults-only area was very quiet, without music, which may appeal to those seeking tranquility. However, we found it too subdued and preferred the livelier activity pool. On a positive note, there were plenty of sunbeds, and reservations didn't cause any issues.
· *Cold Pools**
The main pools were quite cold for our liking, which led us to use our private swim-up pool more than expected as it was noticeably warmer.
· *Minibar and Swim-Up Room Setup**
The minibar lacked beer, which limited the convenience of having a swim-up pool. Additionally, only powdered milk was provided, which wasn’t to our taste. Also, for tea lovers, getting fresh milk required a walk to another area depending on pool opening times.
The bathroom design in the swim-up room could compromise privacy. If the door was left open, the toilet area was visible, requiring closed curtains. Additionally, housekeeping didn’t adhere strictly to the "Do Not Disturb" sign, which may affect those preferring lie-ins.
· *Heavily App-Based Hotel**
Much of the hotel’s information is app-based, which could be an issue for less tech-savvy guests. Physical signs and maps weren’t always clear and sometimes added confusion, especially given the hotel's large size and complex layout. For example, features like "The Room," a mini escape-room experience, weren’t well-advertised, and we only discovered it by actively exploring.
· *Partner Hotel Use**
Using partner hotel facilities lacked clear guidance, and it felt strange without wristbands or identification to indicate access permissions.
· *Spa and Farm**
While the individual treatments were enjoyable, the spa circuit was poorly explained, leaving us unsure of how to use the facilities effectively.
The farm, while a novel idea, was disappointing. It didn’t offer much interaction with the animals, and the setup, including electric fencing and limited shade, left us underwhelmed, though the animals seemed to have water and fresh hay available.
· *Smaller Room Issues**
The bed, though large, felt a bit hard for our preference. The shower pressure was underwhelming, and it was slightly tricky to adjust the temperature.
· *Overall**
We enjoyed our stay at TUI BLUE Biomar, with highlights including the clean and spacious room, private swim-up pool, a variety of facilities, partner hotel options, great drinks, and friendly staff. However, the cold main pools, subdued adults-only area, repetitive food options, sparse minibar, app dependency, confusing layout, and disappointing farm experience were negatives.
For us, a one-week stay felt ideal; a longer visit might have made the food options feel too repetitive unless more à la carte or partner hotel dining was utilized. Future visitors would benefit from researching the hotel facilities in advance, as some features can be easy to overlook due to inadequate on-site communication. While the hotel has a lot to offer, better organization and clearer information would significantly enhance the experience.
