First, room cleanliness: Generally okay, but the details were lacking. There was dust (visible dust flew up when opening and closing the cabinet doors), four or five short hairs on the bed, and two hairs and dust on the nightstand 😥 I considered changing rooms but was too tired to bother. Facilities: Both shower heads were difficult to use, and the drainage was also an issue. After I reported it to the front desk on the first morning, they said they would fix it, but it was still the same when I showered on the second night 😓 Breakfast: Mediocre. The selection was so limited that I thought some areas hadn't even opened yet 😢
Great 3 nights stay at Movenpick hotel with all amenities. Very convenient and close to the Gour Emir monument (4/5mn by walk) and the Registan square (15/16mn). A lot of cafe and restaurants around the hotel as we didn’t book the hotel breakfast. As we are lazy to dine out, we enjoyed twice diners at the restaurant Caramelle (really juicy manti and tasteful somsa & soups) We tried the sauna (hammam was under reparation) and the fitness. We had pleasant drinks at the pool bar. So we can recommend the Movenpick hotel at Samarkand. And the room rates are very affordable for a 4,5/5* hotel.
It is not up to a 5 star level for the below reasons
1) the facility looks new from the outside and superficially it is grand but the details reveal that this hotel is subpar, for example the gym facilities, the elevators, etc… looks like a standard holiday inn
2) the staff barely speak English and when you ask them something the attitude is mostly cold and unwelcoming, not helpful at all
3) the room facilities didn’t work most of the time, for example the shower buttons, the phone or the aircon
4) the breakfast selection is minimalist, with v limited varieties
5) the location is far from city center
Hotel itself was amazing. Very clean & posh. Breakfast was wide of selections. Swimming pool & spa was fun way to relax.
When we ask, they happily made us late check out. Very grateful! Vey much enjoyed staying.
Only downside was location, although it's close to a park, we found it hard to find yandex. It was quite expensive & took 10-15 mins to arrive. Since we have been using yandex many different cities, this time was the most hassle.
Nice hotel with good Ambiance and facilities. Special thanks to Sharofat at the reception who helped us booking a city tour and was very helpful even during her leave. It had 24x7 bar and restaurant with good food. Would strongly recommend this hotel to all kind of tourists.
We arrived late, they checked us in very quickly. The room matches the photo. The room has slippers, a dental kit, tea, coffee, water, and air conditioning. There is cola and fanta in the fridge. The breakfast is decent, very tasty plums, porridge, and samsa. The staff is attentive to guests.
The environment is good. This hotel is about 10 kilometers away from the center of Samarkand. It is a hotel resort with many good hotels, such as Hliton. The overall environment of the hotel is good, and there is a gym on the first floor. There are scenic spots outside the resort, which can be reached by walking for 3 kilometers. But the service awareness here is not good.
It feels like a rural hotel in a quiet place.
Late at night, the hotel door is locked until dawn, which seems to be perfect for older travelers who care about security.
The room is relatively small, but there are fluorescent lights to work quietly.
You can have a light buffet meal in the morning, but I don't like greasy ones, so I ate fried eggs, a sausage, yogurt, tangerine (high sugar), and a piece of bread. I ordered black coffee for free and drank it.
The hotel staff are friendly, but they don't speak English well.
I checked out to get out of the 6 o'clock high-speed train to Tashkent, but I was surprised to ask for a $8 tourist tax for two days, four dollars a day. I thought it would be late for the car, so I gave it first and then got on the train, and I thought I was ripped off by the tour guide, so I went there and asked him to pay for it. Looking at the kakaotalk sent by the tour guide later, it seems that you really get a tourist tax in Samarkand. It would be nice to know that those staying in Samarkand have to pay an extra $4 a day.
