The Seven Tables Restaurant in Xitang Ancient Town, Jiashan, is currently the most popular restaurant in Xitang Scenic Area. We made a reservation one day in advance. The restaurant is not big, but the dishes are authentic local dishes, among which the pork knuckle and rice dumplings with fermented glutinous rice are the best in our opinion.

I went there for the high review score, but I didn't expect there were two stores. I guess the original seven tables were not enough. The two stores were very close, just across from each other, so the waiter took us there directly. Four people ordered three dishes and one soup: Shenxian tofu, made of fish tofu, tasted quite fresh; steamed white water fish, the fish meat was very tender, the saltiness was just right, a local representative dish; secret beef, there was dry ice when it came up, the plate was beautiful, and the beef was also very tender; I like the salted pork and winter melon soup very much, it is especially comfortable to drink in summer, and there are quite a lot of winter melons, the knife skills are good, and I drank several bowls in a row. Each table of merchants gave screws, the first one was served, and everyone ate quite a lot. At the end, they also gave a fruit, a sliced ​​banana, and dry ice was smoking underneath, just to pick out the slippery banana slices from this swaying container with some skills. During the period, the aunt repeatedly asked us if it was to our taste, because she saw that we didn't eat much, and thought we must not be used to it, even though we repeatedly explained that it was because we had eaten snacks in the afternoon, and it was true. The auntie kept saying sorry for not letting us eat to our heart's content and even gave us a salt and pepper pumpkin. We were already too full to eat any more and yet she gave us another dish, which made us feel really embarrassed and we could only eat a few more bites.

I personally think the taste is good, because it is difficult to adjust to a strong taste. The environment is not luxurious but clean and sanitary. I read the reviews saying that the service is good, and I personally experienced it, and it is indeed well-deserved. I won’t talk about the delivery of vegetables and fruits. It is difficult for people who don’t know how to serve to have that kind of intimacy. I hope their business will get better and better. The bamboo fungus egg is my favorite.

You get what you pay for. This is the most comfortable meal in Xitang. Although the price is a bit expensive and you need to wait for a table (you can make a reservation by phone), the dishes and the presentation are good! Especially the bananas given as a gift are very creative. You can see that the store manager has put some thought into it, which makes you want to share it on WeChat Moments. The snails given as a gift are a bit spicy! The rice tastes good too. The staff is easy-going and enthusiastic during the meal. They will also ask about the dining experience. The most important thing is that there are baby dining chairs! This is so touching for people who travel with their kids that they will cry!

Because there were so many people, we booked a big table. The big table is upstairs facing the street, and it is very nice to eat, watch and chat. I ordered the signature dishes of the restaurant. When the dishes were served, I felt that the plating was exquisite, which is indeed suitable for taking pictures! The napkin box looks antique and the teapot is also beautiful. The owl basin for soup is very distinctive. The fried snails with sauce were given by the store, and each table was given a gift. It tasted good. The overall taste of the dishes here is good and very tasty. The braised pork with pickled mustard greens has the flavor of the ancient town.

On the first day, I tried the old brand Qiantang Renjia in Xitang. I always wanted to try the store of this hot pot restaurant, but I had no hope at all after seeing the flow of people in Xitang. But since I passed by, I went in to ask at P484. They hadn't started lunch yet, but you can reserve a seat (it seems to be reserved until 11 o'clock). The three seats by the river were already occupied. We ate by the river all afternoon and evening yesterday. We lived by the river, so it didn't matter. We chose the only seat by the street. It looked good after seeing the flow of people. It was still early, 10:30, so I reserved this seat and went out to find Starbucks. There were quite a lot of people at Starbucks, so my husband came back to the restaurant to reserve a seat. When I arrived at the restaurant after 11 o'clock, their employees were eating lunch at our seat. Anyway, we were not in a hurry, so we just sat next to them to enjoy the air conditioning and surf the Internet, and waited for them to finish eating before sitting down. My husband doesn't eat beef, so we didn't order the signature secret beef. In fact, I don't remember the taste very well, but I was quite impressed by the tableware, which was all cartoon-shaped, even the old duck wontons were placed in a cartoon sheep-shaped cup. In addition, many dishes were covered with dry ice. Usually, we would order the secret beef, which has dry ice, but we didn't order it, so he specially laid it under the fried shrimp we served. The snails they served were really delicious. Although they were quite spicy and small, they were very tasty. Although the quantity was not large, it was just right for two people. The price is similar to that of other restaurants in Xitang, and they also give away snails and fruit salad, which is very cost-effective.
