DAY 1: Nanchang &rarr; Xinhua (Overnight)

📍Xinhua Shangmei Ancient Town: The bluestone streets and Ming and Qing dynasty houses are perfect for photo ops. It&#39;s recommended to visit in the evening to avoid the sun (in the center of Shangmei Town, Xinhua County). Accommodation is over 100 yuan per night.
🍜Food Spot: Recommend the &quot;Old Street Small Bowl Rice Cake.&quot; Be careful with the Sanhe Soup if you&#39;re new to it and aren&#39;t used to the sand ginger and mountain peppercorn oil!
DAY 2: Xinhua &rarr; Zhenyuan Ancient Town (Overnight) Stay in a river view room. The owner is friendly and welcoming, and the complimentary sour plum soup is authentic.

The ancient town is full of sour beef hotpot, sour fish soup, and ethnic-style travel photography shops, all at reasonable prices. We had a sour soup beef hotpot for 150 yuan, a plate full of fresh beef. The tofu pudding hotpot is a real treat.
DAY 3: Zhenyuan &rarr; Liupanshui (overnight)

❄️ Summer escape tips:
&bull; A must-try ride on the Yeyuhai Mountain Train (buy a package ticket at the resort entrance for a better deal).
&bull; Free entry to the Torch Festival at the Yi Haiping Folk Street, which runs from July 17th to August 17th.
Avoid: Shuicheng Ancient Town, a completely man-made scenic area. We arrived at 10:00 AM and were met with garbage left over from the previous night, which hadn&#39;t been cleaned up. We wandered around for a few minutes before leaving. We went to Minghu Wetland Park for a stroll. The scenery was nice, but it was still quite hot during the day. The sanitation and roads in Liupanshui are poor, and it doesn&#39;t feel like a tourist destination. 🔥Foodie Tips:
▫️You won&#39;t be tempted by either the sour soup fish or beef in Zhenyuan. If you want to enjoy the view, sit by the river, as the price will be higher.
▫️In Liupanshui, I recommend the baked pot and highly recommend the potato cakes. The Kirin meatball hotpot in the city was generously portioned, and the side dishes were unlimited.

I was a bit accustomed to the free sour soup. Haiping Yi Ethnic Street has a lot of snacks. I highly recommend the freshly cut lamb skewers, which cost one yuan each. Other items cost one yuan each, and you can&#39;t tell what kind of meat they&#39;re made of. Yi fried rice costs 10 yuan a night and is incredibly delicious.

Day 4: Depart from Xuanwei, Yunnan.

We&#39;ll pass the Beipanjiang Bridge, the world&#39;s tallest elevated bridge, to the Nizhu River Grand Canyon Scenic Area.
The canyon scenery is beautiful, and the hike involves a 3.6-kilometer hike, including a via ferrata. It&#39;s thrilling and I didn&#39;t want to miss it. If you&#39;re tired, take the cable car down to the base of the mountain, then take the Sky School Bus across the world&#39;s longest glass bridge. Beware of heights; even someone like me, who&#39;s not afraid of heights, felt a bit weak in the middle. Cross the suspension bridge and walk along the cliff path to the 520 Sky Observation Deck, offering stunning views of the entire scenic area. Take the shuttle back to the scenic area entrance and depart for Xuanwei city.
🔥Foodie Tip: The fried rice in the scenic area is delicious at 15 yuan a bowl, and the corn sold by the elderly woman at the entrance is also delicious at 3 yuan a head.

My first meal in Xuanwei was recommended by the beautiful hotel receptionist. Taste of Xuanwei. I bought a 132 yuan set meal online through a group buy. While I wasn&#39;t used to the smoky flavor of the hand-cut pork, all the other dishes were excellent, especially the cold kelp salad, which was almost entirely gone. The pork skin and cabbage soup was also delicious.

Day 5: I asked around in Xuanwei, and everyone said there wasn&#39;t much fun to do there. Since I&#39;m already here, I should definitely take something with me. After breakfast at the hotel (hotels in 181 also offer a buffet breakfast, which is simple but delicious. The corn here is also delicious), we visited the Guixin Farmers&#39; Market, the largest local farmers&#39; market. Xuanwei is famous for its ham, and locals say the ham is more authentic at the farmers&#39; market. Xuanwei isn&#39;t a large city, but the streets are clean and tidy, and the farmers&#39; market is no exception. We bought ham, the local specialty yellow tofu, and local fruits like peaches and apples 🍎, and ate them while walking around. The green steamed bun-like pastries and fried dough sticks we bought were amazing. They say that to get to know a city, you have to visit the market, and the farmers&#39; market was the right place.

Day 6: Bijie Baicaoping, Haizi Street, Bijie City (overnight)
I had originally planned to visit the Wumeng Grassland, but the crowds discouraged me. I was about to change to Alixili, but the crowds also discouraged me, so I decided on Baicaoping. We made the right choice to visit the free scenic spot &quot;Koi Possession.&quot; It was sparsely populated and beautiful, and the rain, which was predicted to fall at 4 p.m., didn&#39;t happen. Windmill meadows, cattle and sheep, and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The winds were strong and the temperature was low at the top, so bring a jacket. After exploring Baicaoping, we drove to Bijie City to check in.
Day 7: From Bijie City to Chadong, the Border Town (overnight).
Morning: Visit Xiangshuitan Park in Bijie City (free admission). During the beginning of autumn, we climbed Wumeng Pavilion for a panoramic view of Bijie City.

Day 8: Spend the morning exploring the ancient border towns that span three provinces (Hong&#39;an, Chongqing; Chadong, Hunan; Songtao, Guizhou). Aside from the hot weather, everything was perfectly balanced. The scenery was beautiful and tranquil, not crowded, and prices were reasonable. We took the two-yuan Lala Ferry and enjoyed four oily rice tofu for five yuan a bowl and one yuan for four. In the afternoon, we returned to Changsha for rest. Our 8-day, four-province road trip is almost over.

💡Practical Tips:
1. As the road is mountainous, it&#39;s recommended to choose an SUV.
2. Driving time between Guizhou attractions typically lasts over 3 hours, so bring motion sickness medication.
3. B&amp;B reservations must be made two weeks in advance during peak season (July-August).
