DENNISTON DOG, a comprehensive restaurant in WESTPORT, was not originally our goal. The weather on the west coast changes so quickly that the lighthouse and seals at Cape Foulwind are all gone. The BAY HOUSE, which I wanted to visit on the cliff to watch the sea, can only say goodbye, so I found this restaurant.
The discovery is worth it. From the name and appearance, you can see that it is an independent and unique restaurant. The bold bright yellow with bright red outline is very exaggerated and eye-catching. The modern glass ceiling and large floor-to-ceiling windows in the outdoor dining area are matched with simple wooden tables and chairs, which are particularly transparent and natural.
Walking into the room, the main color of bright yellow continues to be boldly used, but different wall colors are used to distinguish different areas, so each area is clear at a glance, but the ubiquitous yellow reminds you of the unity of the entire restaurant from time to time. The designer must be a master!
Wanting to change things up, I ordered Stonegrill Tasting Plate, Fettucine and Italian Minetrone Soup. The former is not very common in New Zealand, while the latter two are new dishes that the chef changes every day.
Stonegrill Tasting Plate always reminds me of the &quot;Taste of Earth and Sea&quot; that I didn&#39;t get to taste at KEPLER Restaurant in Te Anau (if I come to New Zealand again, this dish will be a driving force). The chef of DOG also seems to want to show the best land and sea ingredients in New Zealand at the same time, but here the special granite slabs are used at high temperature to lock in the juice and nutrition of the food. The idea of ​​this dish is creative, but the key is the very fresh and tempting ingredients here.
Fettucine and Italian Minetrone Soup are both Italian delicacies. As a type of pasta, the former is not a common variety. Spaghetti and Macaroni are. However, the Fettucine here is authentic. The three-color wide noodles are distinct but integrated, with perfect color matching and proper sauce collection. It is difficult to achieve without years of immersion in the Italian kitchen.
The Italian minestrone soup also shows the chef&#39;s skill. The soup is rosy and crystal. Compared with the common borscht, it tastes slightly sweet and sour but much more refreshing. It is a very pleasing method.
The dishes of this restaurant are much more complete and detailed than those of ordinary New Zealand restaurants. In addition to New Zealand local LOCAL and Italian, Thai, Mexican, etc. are also available. If you go to WESTPORT, it is a unique and diversified restaurant that you must not miss. It is worth a try.
